It's not complaining about it so much as simply saying that the oversaturation of them makes them feel less special, at least to me.

Ok wow if TA had 10 live albums coming out this year alone, I'd buy and watch every single one and still want more. Bite your tongue!!

I'd rather have live albums than studio albums anyway.   For me, those are more special.

Predictions on the prices? I really want to get that 6-Disc set. The bonus DVD sounds a lot of fun, especially with the tour documentary and the video of 3 tracks in Tilburg (the cover encores, I suppose). I bet it'll be about $50-$60. Neal's last live release, Live Momentum, was only $29.99 for 3CDs and 2 DVDs, but that was a CD-sized Digipak. Looks like, at least with the artwork, the Deluxe Collector's Edition will be a tall DVD-sized digipak case (which will hopefully be of high quality this time, unlike Radiant's version of Whirld Tour 2010).

Someone explain to me the point of needing the DVDs AND the Blu-ray.

If I buy anything, I'll probably get just the Blu-ray edition, but I might not.  I don't watch much live stuff anymore, and I already have three other TA DVDs to keep me fat and sassy for when I watch to some live TA, so I'll probably pass on this one.  Like I said before, these releases feel less special since they release one for every tour and they only have so many songs to choose from.

Yeah, bands seem to be releasing live DVDs after every single tour now, it's not just Transatlantic. I guess it's a new trend. This way we can criticize the bands that don't release any live footage at all, because look how other bands do it all the time.  ;D

I'll suppose it's cheaper nowadays to do a live recording and put it out. I do agree that live releases don't feel as special as they did 10 years ago.

With regular movies, it can make sense because even if you have Blu-ray in your living room, you probably don't have it in your car/van/SUV, but DVD players are pretty common in vehicles, especially if you have kids.

But maybe you don't have Blu-ray in your bedroom, just the DVD player you moved up there when you got the Blu-ray.  How you gonna get it on with your honey to the awesome Transatlantic show if all you have is the Blu-ray?  That's right; you need the DVD, too.

I was somewhat unimpressed with this album, so I will definitely skip this live release.

$44.99 isn't too bad for the 6-disc set. When you think about it, a 2-DVD set would normally be about $20-25, the 3-CD set at about the same, then toss in a Blu-Ray for about $20, and individually, things like these would normally cost $60-70 total. I wonder if the cheap price is a sign of poor package quality yet again?! Ugh I hope not. Either way, I'll still be ready at 10:58am on Tuesday morning waiting to pre-order it.

My only question is about the signed graphic with the first 100 orders, will it be the same that came with kaleidoscope? I imagine it would be a different design, but nothing really says

You just get the Deluxe Edition with Neal's album, A Proggy Christmas. It came out a couple years ago and has guests like Steve Hackett, Roine Stolt, Pete Trewavas, and Mike Portnoy.

The thing is that the descriptions are so confusing-

4 disc Special Edition Digipak
3CD+DVD Digipak containing a full recording of the Tilburg show and the full live footage of the Cologne show.

Into the BluRay
containing a full live footage (filmed in Cologne), "Behind The Scenes" of the Kaldeidoscope World Tour 2014, band interviews and 3 further live tracks (filmed in Tilburg)

6 disc Ltd. Deluxe Edition Box Set
including 2 DVDs containing a full live footage (filmed in Cologne), "Behind The Scenes" of the Kaldeidoscope World Tour 2014, band interviews and 3 further live tracks (filmed in Tilburg), 3 CDs containing the recording of the full Tilburg show and a BluRay disc containing the full cologne show and also the "Behind The Scenes", band interviews and 3 songs of the Tilburg show.

I just want a DVD of everything they videoed and a CD of everything they audio-ed. What the hell do I get??  :lol

Does the first one not include any of the bonus content, or just some of it, or all of it except they couldn't fit the 3 extra Tilburg songs?

Also, they played two nights in Tilburg. I wonder if they're using the best of both nights like Luna Park or something. If I recall correctly, that was one of the nights that Neal was having some trouble. Maybe that's why they're mostly only doing audio of that show so they can overdub.

Good question. I hadn't even thought about it, but these are the two Tilburg set lists:
Intro ("The Orchestral Whirlwind")
Into the Blue
My New World
Shine
Whirlwind Medley
Bridge Across Forever
Kaleidoscope (with "Ride the Lightning" snippet by Metallica)
Encore:
Guitar Duet (Morse and Stolt)
We All Need Some Light
Black as the Sky
Encore 2:
Sylvia (Focus cover) (with Thijs van Leer) (on keyboards and vocals)
Hocus Pocus (Focus cover) (with Thijs van Leer) (on keyboards and vocals)

Intro ("The Orchestral Whirlwind")
Into the Blue
My New World
Shine
Whirlwind Medley
Beyond the Sun
Kaleidoscope (with "Ride the Lightning" snippet by Metallica)
Guitar Duet (Morse and Stolt)
We All Need Some Light
Black as the Sky
Encore:
Nights in White Satin (The Moody Blues cover)
And You and I (Yes cover)
Encore 2:
All of the Above / Stranger in Your Soul
Note: At 3h 25mins this was the longest show of the tour and probably the longest ever in history of Transatlantic

Ideally, this would be how I would put together both shows for a complete 3 CD set:
Disc 1 - Approx. 80 minutes
Into The Blue
My New World
Shine
Whirlwind Medley

Disc 2 - Approx. 50 minutes
Beyond The Sun
Kaleidoscope
Guitar Duet / We All Need Some Light
Black As The Sky

Disc 3 - Approx. 55 minutes
Sylvia
Hocus Pocus
Nights In White Satin
And You And I
All Of The Above/Stranger In Your Soul

It would combine all the tracks from both shows and be pretty complete. They'd be smart to include everything, especially the Focus tracks as they had a special guest from Focus playing with them on keyboards. Hopefully we get something like this on the 3 CD set.

Wait a second. UGH the DVD/CD doesn't include the 3 videos from Tilburg, but the Blu Ray doesn't include the full audio from Tilburg. There's no Blu-Ray/CD, what the hell?? ???

So you have to buy the big deluxe edition to get both :tdwn

Again, why don't they just have each combination available, or just each format separate?

Looks like less than 4 orders in that span of 19 seconds, which means they took about one order per five seconds. Given that average, it would've taken, at most, about  8 minutes to fill the first 100 orders. I think we're good! :tup
