So I really want to get into some folk metal but all the bands that I've found have too much growling for me/too much death metal Anyone know of any folky sort of metal bands (preferably female fronted) without much growling? Some growling is fine but I prefer when it isn't used all the time... kinda like Epica I suppose. I really like a lot of Eluveitie's music but the growling spoils it for me tbh.

What Portrucci said about Agalloch. They might be the best band of all time, at least Ashes Against the Grain is as close to perfection as an album can get.

I'm not quite sure what is meant by "folk metal", but Nightwish has some folky elements in some of their songs.

Blind Guardian? Especially albums like Somewhere Far Beyond, Tales From the Twilight World and Imaginations From the Other Side.

Falconer.
Falconer is a good band. Great Vocalist. Also recommend Turisas.

Just checked out Blind Guardian, they are pretty good. I tried a few of those bands but I dunno they aren't really what I'm looking for but thanks guys will keep checking more of them out anyways, there is probably some stuff I will come across that I like. I'm not quite sure what is meant by "folk metal", but Nightwish has some folky elements in some of their songs.
I'm a massive Nightwish fan already! Their most recent album is definitely quite folky. I'm really loving Eluveitie's album Evocation I, not quite 'folk metal' but it is really good. I just wish I knew what the heck she was singing
