That's too bad.  Hopefully he'll go back.

The new singer, Johnny Monaco, actually kinda sounds a good bit like Donnie Vie, which is pretty amazing, since Donnie has a VERY unique voice.  He's also apparently a pretty good guitarist, as he's the ONLY guitarist in the band now.  They're currently a 3-piece.

Oh, holy crap.  Christmas came early.  I found a bootleg video of Paul Gilbert and Donnie Vie doing a completely impromptu jam on some classic rock tunes with Dean Truitt and an unnamed drummer.  It's a crowd shot recording and not everybody knows all of the songs (the drummer on "A Day in the Life", for example), but dammit is it ever cool.

Britny Fox were a great live band back in the day.  I got to see them at some neat venues in the late '80s and early '90s.  Tommy has a great rock voice.  Cool guys for the most part as well.

I could take Kiefer's voice though.  We all have that band that doesn't click.

I was like that for a while with the guy from Firehouse, but I came around, eventually.

That's a band I couldn't get into because of the singer.  I just didn't like his voice.

If you are talking about Deen, I can completely understand that.  Even though it is understandable for them to have been a Cinderella clone given that they were more than half of the original founding members of the original Cinderella, the fact that the guy they hired as their lead singer not only sang in the same style as Keifer, but also looked like him and played a Les Paul didn't help their cause any.  Not to mention that Deen just flat out wasn't as good as Keifer.  But when they parted ways with him and brought Tommy in, I felt like they really stepped up quite a few notches.  He is just a better singer and better front man in general.  But he also has his own identity rather than looking and sounding like a bargain basement knockoff of another band's front man.

I'll have to check out them with Tommy.  Yeah, I hated Dean's voice.

This Friday and Saturday!  This year, no festival stage.  They have a rotating stage that ALL the bands will be on.  Something about not being able to get the festival stage finished, with all the other renovations that Meriweather Post Pavilion was doing and weather.  From what I gather, they'll be back to two stages next year.  They damn sure better, that was a lot of the fun of it for so many people!  Anyway, bands and set times:

Is it normal for the earlier bands to only have 30 minutes like Y&T does, or is that a factor of them only having the one stage this year?

It's normal, because even if they had two stages, they still have to have time for all those bands to be able to play without playing over top of each other.  Y&T got lucky with a later spot last year and did 6:40-7:25.  Last year's setlist:

Don't Stop Runnin'
Black Tiger
I Want Your Money
Mean Streak
I Believe in You
Contagious
Summertime Girls
Rescue Me
Forever

I've heard one song from them, "Walls Come Down", and thought it was ok.

I always shake my head when I see Queensryche listed with these types of bands.  But I guess if thats what makes them happy...

Stoked.  Except for the fact that Loudness got turned away trying to come into the country and had to cancel shows, including M3.  Dammit.

For my own tastes, this year's lineup seems weaker than past years.  If it were an annual thing for me, I might be tempted to skip day 1 and show up midway through day 2.

Honestly, I'm actually looking forward to seeing Loverboy.  I think they'll do a good set.  Also, Station, who I mentioned in the Hard Rock thread.  Plus there's the annual Epic Tailgate Party in the parking lot (directly underneath the "NO TAILGATING" sign), prior to Friday's show starting.  There should be a good couple hundred people there from the M3 group I'm a member of on FB.  Philly 80's cover band Old School plays the tailgate party, which is an added bonus.

Sounds like fun.  I dunno.  Maybe I'm just turning into Old Grumpy Man when it comes to shows, but it seems like there are fewer and fewer these days where the lineups get me truly excited.  The one notable exception in recent history is the one posted in the Epica thread.  But, unfortunately, the date/location combo makes that EXTREMELY inconvenient.

For the record, going to this festival is as much about getting the hell away from life for a couple days, sitting around in the open air, people watching, and having a good time.  A couple years ago, we finally convinced my one buddy to come along.  Within an hour, he had dubbed the event "A Festival of Rack" and questioned why he'd been so hesitant to go all these years.

Anyway, TAC, I know you follow a lot heavier 80's music, but I have yet to go to an M3 festival where I wasn't absolutely glad that I went.  The bands always sound good and the only one I was ever REALLY close to disappointed with was the Queensryche appearance from shortly before they kicked Tate out.  There were plenty of bands I wouldn't have expected to sounds so damned good that really killed it.

It's all cool. I'm just goofin'. Seems like a totally cool thing, for sure.  Like a college spring weekend. And I'm sure all of the bands are accessible too.

Anyway, I'm sure of they wanted a heavier lineup, they could've asked Duran Duran to play.
