New forum themes
« on: May 18, 2009, 03:44:57 PM »
In addition to the blue/light Simple Machines theme, we now have three custom themes for your use:

Black Clouds theme:

I know a lot of you have been using this one since we made it available after the recent crash.  But, for those who prefer a lighter theme...

Silver Linings theme:

Just a different color scheme to the Black Clouds theme.  The look and functionality are otherwise the same.

DTF Light:

This is a custom theme that I like a lot.  Some of the features are a bit different than the other two custom themes (both of which are based on Black Rain).  The only real drawback is that it has a set screen width, so it may look too narrow to those who have widescreen monitors.  Also, it doesn't have the thread hover/preview feature.

Enjoy.

EDIT:  Just added a new theme called "Pick Your Color DTF:"

This one incorporates most of the best features of the others, with lots of other features people like as well.  And there is a nifty additional feature that lets you choose your color scheme by clicking the color bars in the upper right corner.  I'm sticking with the basic grey, but there are 4 other variations you can use just by clicking.

Thanks a lot! I'll try them out and may settle on one of the new ones. :)

I'm trying out the Silver Linings theme.  I may go back to the Black Clouds.

I like the Light 2 version better than Light 1.  I will use this, at least until my new widescreen monitor shows up.

Thanks for all the themes. Not sure I like any of them over the default SMF white though :lol
The only one I'm considering is the Silver Linings one. Reminds me a lot of the old ToT dt.net theme. That's a plus. :hat
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

If you could add Hover Preview to Light 2 then I think that would be my favourite, but for now I'm trying out Silver Linings. Quite nice. :)

EDIT: Hmm, my one real qualm with the Silver Linings theme is that quoted text is grey, and comes in light grey boxes, making it quite hard to read. Could the text possibly be made black?

Thanks for the new themes, but I think I'm going to stick to the default SMF white for a while. I got so used to that one.

Yeah, another problem with Light2 is quote pyramids. It is absolutely not possible (literally, i'm not just saying that) to determine who said what because there's no differentiation in quote box colors. Let me show you.

Wow... It's true!

I've actually gotten so accustomed to the dark theme that I'm keeping with it. But it's nice to have options!

I love the DTF Light theme, & the Black Clouds too. Good Job!  :tup

Hey, how about a new exclusive theme for the release of Black Clouds & Silvers Linings? (With Moons maybe...) ::) That could be really awesome.

I do love the idea of the colours one though, it's pretty good, I just prefer the default white one.

Yet another new theme loaded now.  I won't bother posting a screenshot because it is the default theme, and I know you all can see it now.  This is easily my favorite theme.  Hope you all like it.  All the other ones are still available if you choose to use them.

I find it a bit harder to read thread titles now but will give it a shot for a day or two and see if I get used to it. I wish it had thread/post preview on mouseover, though.

Oh, yeah. Noticed that now. But the previews don't work when you try it from the results you get when you click on "Show unread posts since last visit/

I think I remember someone saying that that was the case before as well.
