Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Controversial opinion time. I think the boys all looked cooler without facial hair.

The beard is neither good or bad. The beard is simply... an entity of its own.

Most gay people probably agree with that statement.

I love the ample moustache he's got going now too. It really completes the ensemble. I actually, seriously think this is his best look ever.

No face. Lots of forehead
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Well it's his facial hair, so he can do what he wants with it, but I'm not digging it at all. I like the way he had it trimmed around the Awake era. Now he looks more like John Kalodner or Rick Rubin.

As a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

....What?  ???

Also.. that new picture makes me really dislike the look. Too much sass and not enough class. It fizzles when it should sizzle. It burns out when it should burn up.

It just looks so fake that anyone can feel tempted enough to rip it off of him and think he won't feel pain (not like he does anyway).

Whack a dress on JMX and he could pass for that Eurovision "chick"  ;D     Jordan obviously put his sunnies on in a rush - or is that just a "wizardy"thing to do?

Lol Rudess has hair again.

Kinda makes me miss his long haired classic composer look.

I bet if you take this picture and ask people, only one guy's beard is actually real.  No one will think JP's is real.

I would be a big fan of an image change anyway. I Mikael Akerfeldt has shown, good metal does not need big beards, long hair and an evil stare.

This phase also reminds me of how similar my hair type and color are to his. Unfortunately, my hair isn't as talented on the keyboard.
