So, yeah, I saw Spock's beard two days ago and it was amazing. :hefdaddy

Ted proved himself to be a fantastic front man, he's a great singer and such a fun guy to watch perform. It's also cool to see them embracing Jimmy as a real band member now, opposed to being just a live musician when I saw them four years ago. The set list was the same as on the first night, with Snow medley (Made alive/Overture, Devil's got my throat and Carie) and Submerged being absolute highlights. I was actually pleasantly surprised by The Healing colors of sound, it sounded really good.

The coolest part, as some of you might know, is that the guys go into the audience after the show and chat with the fans. I managed to get a photo and a signature from each band member. It was so weird but awesome to hang out with members of one of my favorite bands and just listen to them cracking jokes.  :lol

At first it seemed like Alan won't be coming out, and I thought it was because he had some technical difficulties during the first couple of songs, so I figured he must be a bit bummed about it and decided to stay backstage. At the end I did meet him in front of the venue, told him not to be worried about the problems and he smiled really genuinely.

Anyway... hoping to make the trip again in a few years.  ;D

Oh, I'll be there, too! Look out for some people in black thebearded shirts (https://thebearded.de/styles/proFormell/imageset/thebearded7.jpg). At least, I'll be wearing mine. Would be cool to meet you!  :hat We'll probably be somewhere in the front, along with a guy in a wheelchair.

Another stunning show in London last night - Ted really seems part of the band now, he was a bit awkward last time they played the UK. Healing Colours and the Snow medley were stunning, I had goosebumps all over.

But the venue was half empty - there was hardly anybody there. I know SB aren't exactly a mainstream act, but I would have thought a few more fans would have made the effort. First time I saw them on the Octane tour at the Mean Fiddler, the place was heaving, ever since I've seen them play to smaller and smaller crowds - that's not good for the band or their fans - they surely must be losing money on these dates.   :-[

I'm happy I will see them tomorrow, because frankly, I think the day will come reasonably soon where SB will fold, or only play in the LA area.

Yeah, it doesn't look good. They've been putting out some tremendous albums, the last one was their best received one since God knows when, yet they still can't draw the crowds. I don't get it...

I think it's the confluence of that they play music that isn't in much demand, and also that they lost their two most iconic members.
I'm sure that it will be a great show tonight, but I'm also reasonably sure that it will have a slight "cover band" feeling when they play the more popular material.

Funny though that the last album was better than all other post NM albums.  Though, X was damn good.

Somebody had voiced earlier in this thread their disappointment about The Heading Colors of Sound. I love that tune, but I gotta say it kinda dragged on and wasn't the best concert closer.

Yeah, that was me, but for me it was the other way round. At first I found it strange that they went with The Healing colors when picking an epic tune as the closer, knowing they could have gone with The Light, The Water, At the end of the day or other epics that I prefer. But it worked well for me live, some parts were great for singing along and some sounded catchier than on the studio version. Maybe the different key they played in had something to do with it.

The Oblivion Particle, eh? Sounds like it'll be TOP-notch! :tup :loser: :rollin

Looking forward to this one later this year. I guess the band didn't need to self-finance this one, so I wonder what kind of special edition(s) there will be, or any incentives for ordering from the band.

Great that the title's finally out there now. After Steven Wilson, this is my most anticipated release of 2015.

Idk if it's just me, but The Oblivion Particle sounds like a concept album title.

New song "Tides Of Time" performed at a gig recently, brand new song from the upcoming album The Oblivion Particle. Sounds good, very classic SB feel to it, especially with the unison hits leading into the outro solo section. Cannot wait to hear more the album! August seems SO FAR away!!!

Been a SB fan since 2000.Love both the Morse and D'Virgilio era's,but what does everyone think of Ted Leonard's voice? When he's doing vocals with Enchant he's fine, not sure his voice fits in with the more progressive sounds of SB!  Still looking forward to hearing the new album later in the year!
