Maybe a closer comparison than the Master of Puppets vs. Rust in Peace poll.
I voted for Puppets.

I voted for Puppets.
I actually think that this one will be even more lopsided.

Yet another random, pointless poll. wtf is going on with all these threads lately?

That's what GMD has become. A blend of polls like this and the "pick your favorite songs by band X" threads :P

Is anyone forcing you to open these threads?
Looking at GMD Page 1, there are quite a few threads that I have no interest in, so do you know what I do? I don't click on them. :eek :eek
It's a new concept, I admit, but perhaps one you should try.

Doesn't he have a point though? Half of these threads seems like they would fit better in Polls/Survivors.

I agree that they have gotten a bit out of hand. I was doing a few per week to generate discussion, which I guess opened Pandora's Box to where anyone now gets an idea in their head and starts a poll about it, but I can only speak for myself when I say that my threads are intended to generate discussion, not decided favorite this or best that.

Ya, I don’t mind just for that reason. To me, it’s not about a poll. The poll is a McGuffin. It’s just an excuse to stimulate conversation.
-
Exactly. I mean, look at a band like AC/DC. They are almost never talked about around here, but that thread I started on them had plenty of good chatter.
-
I'm really enjoying all of the polls. It's fun to actually have multiple threads to check up on in the GMD sub. I've actually been meaning to commend Kev and WR for keeping this thing so active.
Oh, and BtR was never my thing. I remember when it first came out and I think there was one song on their that I dug.

Metallica is the better band, but Beneath the Remains is tied with Reign in Blood for the greatest thrash metal album of all time.
Remains

Master of Puppets (March) & Reign in Blood (October) came out the same year, 1986. That was a great year for thrash metal!

Exactly.
...although, that said, this one is a bit baffling, as I doubt you'd find many that would hold these two albums as comparable. And we don't have many Sepultura fans here that I am aware of either. But whatever.

I don’t really consider myself a Sepultura fan. They had 3 incredible albums IMO (BtR, Arise, and Chaos AD) and then lost me completely with Roots. The stuff I’ve heard since the split has been ok, but nothing special. My opinion is that they just happened to capture lightning in a bottle for a short time and then just fell off the table.

I'm pretty much with you there dude. I am only a fan of the Max era Sepultura and I really don't get the fuss over Roots. BtR, Arise and Chaos AD are where it's at :metal

What a shocking outcome :rollin Which lesser known metal album are we going to put up against MoP next time?
-
Looking forward to the 7th MoP against whatever thread.
Maybe an Into Eternity album?
Hell, just cut to the chase and put it against a Jay-Z album or something.
-
Don't like a thread, don't enter it. It's not hard. The more discussion, the better.
This might be the only time I ever vote for Master of Puppets. :lol
