That is epic!

Loved it, amazing!

Fantastic!! :coolio

Nice. The transitions got a bit unwieldy in the end, but still loved it. I also lile how it incorporated a lot of later era songs.
Favorite parts:
Panic Attack - sounded like a Hans Zimmer score in a Nolan movie
These Walls outro - epic!
Breaking All Illusions - that definitely is one of the most uplifting melodies ever
Bridges in the Sky intro - sounded like a part of the Star Wars soundtrack
-
Loved it too! So many DT songs all squeezed into a mere 13 minutes :)
-
Wow, this is beyond amazing. I am still listening. I also love that this dude did not make the mistake of copying vocal melodies note by note (including the exact rhythm) like it is the case in many orchestra arrangements of rock songs.
Also, this proves the musical quality of DTs music. It's not only rock or metal. It is composed brilliantly, it is complex a well thought through enough to fit into an orchestral arrangement - plus, the orchestra is really USED here, it's not only laying down long notes and sounding nice.
#EDIT: I just got major goosebumps at 7:55. WOW!
If it wasn't too log for that, the guys from DT should have used this as the opener piece for their concerts!!!

Very nice. I often wonder where arrangers "find" an orchestra to record their work. It's not like you could just contact your local symphony orchestra and tell them that you've cooked something up that you'd like to record. Or maybe you can; I don't know. I'm sure money would be involved, probably a lot of it, since we're talking about rehearsal and recording time for an entire orchestra.
-
Is it a given that this is a real orchestra? These days, given the right effort, you can not easily tell the difference.
And yeah, incredible. What I like about it is that it actually sounds like a classical piece, not just a "flutist, you play the guitar part" that most rock bands do.
-
I suppose you're right. It could be all computer-synthesized/emulated/whatever.
-
This is really cool and very well done :metal
-
Metropolis in the beginning reminded me of something you'd hear exploring the wilderness in Elder Scrolls.
This was really cool though, it's nice to hear DT music with an tuned Orchestra for a change...
-
Simply 'Wow!'
Glad he has the songs listed. I 'think' I could have named 75% without a list. I got more than a few smiles when I would hear the transitions from one song to another.
Appreciate the 'head's up' as well.

The guy who did this deserves a medal, this is amazing! Hope Jordan gets to see this, he's a big fan of orchestral music and would definitely love it.
EDIT: Jordan did share it on his Facebook! :hefdaddy

Sounds like video game music
-
Anybody with me that DT must use this as their opening music in the live setting. Not the whole thing but 3-min "radio edit". Did you hear Jordan and John? This is way too good way to start the show with some animation/video!

Hey I said that before you, don't sell it as your idea :rollin :rollin

I can't get enough of the Metropolis intro its just like a teaser to a Dream Theater Movie!!! Its like you are waiting for the voice of that movie narrator.
Imagine if they opened the Images,Words and Beyond tour with this instead of the intro tape? I would have wet my pants at the Kia Theater!

Noice!

Found this on JR's facebook. Absolutely amazing. The section with the main BAI melody through the build-up of These Walls is so so good.
-
Oh wow! That was great! One of the reasons DT turns me on is that fusion of Symphonic and Metal. This just is just cool :heart
-
Fantastic arrangement. I especially loved the "These Walls" part!
-
Oh my goodness, that was utterly amazing, more, more, MORE please!!
Don't know if this have been picked up in here before either but check out this amazing version of "Octavarium"
