I was inspired by Hardwired To Self Destruct to make a big fat rock/metal album.
I love what i came up with so far.
It's not quite as polished as HTSD. More like Saint Anger with much better production !!

What do you think ?

Here's day 1 of track 2. They sound similar because they're going to be a two-parter to open the album :)
Plus i'm probably gonna change the drums a bit anyway as I used the previous song as a template just to get started.

Wow! I like the guitar tone, it's pretty fat and defined. What gear are you using to record? (Guitars, amp as well as interfaces/mics etc.)
-
1. Gibson Les Paul
2. Blackstar HT 100 head ( Emulated Output into Line6 Audio Interface )
3. Logic Pro 9
4. Toontrack EzDrummer ( I double up with some punchy MIDI drums to beef it up a bit. Mixed low so you can't tell they're Midi drums - plus slight distortion to beef them up a bit more )
5. Waveburner Mastering Software ( Comes With Logic )
6. Peavey 4 string bass.
:) Thanks for listening ! I almost never put any reverb on my rhythm guitars and I have 2 bass tracks going at once. I record one on a clean channel then copy and paste it into
a new track and put loads of dirt on that one. The clean one gives all the attack and the dirty one gives it some oomph.
I also copy and paste the solos so that there are 2 identical tracks in mono.
It means it pushes it up about 3 or 4 db - but that also means you only need to turn it *down* in the mix and it's not fighting to be heard.
I also turn the Humanise on EZDrummer on maximum so it doesn't sound robotic. It does mean that some hits aren't smack on the beat - but that just makes it more realistic.

11 tracks up now. Just one more (hopefully 9 minute 3 part song) to write then it'll all be done !!
I've been working on this album since Feb 13. And it's the first new music i've worked on since September.

Sounding good man! Really like "Groover".

Thank you so much !! I only just wrote that one last night. I always wanna do more experimental stuff but when my method of writing is
i. write out 16 bars of drums
ii. record a riff for 16 bars Left and right
iii. record bass
iv. copy pasta 16 more bars of drums
v. try to come up with a 2nd section
...it's a bit hard to plan out something really odd and weird unless I already have the idea in my head.
Also Danger UXB! really reminds me of Aint My Bitch from LOAD. What you reckon ?

Yeah a little bit. Your stuff sounds like a cool blend of your influences (at least who I assume your influences are based on the stuff you post about here). Like a mix of Green Day, Oasis and Metallica!

Can't argue with that.
Bit of Mastodon too.
Especially in "The Drop".

All 12 tracks are done !!! Just finished "Jacknife" today.
Started this particular project on Feb 12. Not bad. Interestingly it's the same length as the first Juggernaut album I did but has twice as many tracks.
Also I worked on that one for about 8 months because I was still learning Logic.
EP1 is on iTunes already etc but i'm still gonna tweak the other 2 to make sure i'm happy with them before releasing.
:)
