Anyone else seen the trailer for this? It looks pretty funny. It looks like an rated R version of Toy Story with food.

Saw this in an interview
“Sausage Party appalled him [Sacha Baron Cohen] in some ways. We brought him to a screening where we watched the hand drawn version of the movie and he could not believe it — ‘that is the single craziest fucking thing I’ve seen in my whole life’ He said

Nope.

Well, that looks dumber than shit.
*sees credits.
Not surprising.

getting a big pass from me

I think it looks hilarious.

This looks fantastic. It's such a ridiculous idea that it will probably work.
-
I like how one of the directors has only been credited with a million Thomas the Tank Engine movies and this.
-
Good god why :lolpalm:
-
I've been hearing all about this from various family members who are either totally interested or completely appalled.
I watched the 2 minute R-rated trailer, and it is just too ridiculous to be something I want to watch. Kinda just seems like a way to get animated characters to say "fuck" a lot and scream with exaggerated expressions. You're going to see half the seats in the movies full of kids because their dumb parents think it's a family movie, or just don't care.
Alright rant over xD I'm sure it's a funny movie if you're into that kinda stuff, but it's not for me.
-
I have no absolutely no interest in this whatsoever.

Anyone end up seeing this?
Yes :emo:
Worldwide: $140,705,322

I bought it and sold it after one viewing. There were some funny parts but over all I was very disappointed.
-
I watched it last night on Netflix. It was stupid, but I didn't hate it. I actually really like the underlying idea and I think it had a lot more potential than a 90 minute window allowed to shine.
-
I thought it was terrible. I knew it would be stupid, but didn't realize they wouldn't even be able to make it funny or entertaining in anyway and I like the guys who made this movie.

Idk... I lost it during the grocery store-wide food orgy among all the corpses.

Yeah I thought it was hilarious. It definitely was a little too on the nose preachy but overall I really enjoyed it. Then again I enjoy almost everything Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill are in so I'm willing to let go a lot of crap they do.

Preachy how ?
Don't eat food it might have feelings ? :lol
Or is it one of those " lol religious beliefs lol " movies ?

Seeing as the entire movie was the dark realization that the "great beyond" was created by a handful in order to maintain order across the population, I'm going to go with the second option.

Count me out :lol
1.Laughing at other people's beliefs..
2. Lol sausages look like willies and buns look like twats
arf arf.
Not for me.

Finally saw this.
Ugh........what a waste of potential.
There are a handful (or less) of authentically good scenes. The whole saving private ryan thing at the beginning, some of the meal preparation in the middle and a bit of this and that throughout, but overall it was really bad.
Of course the hot dog is named Frank. Of course the bagel is a Woody Allen impression and the Lavash is a caricature of an Arab. Of course the Jew bagel and Arab Lavash are arguing about settlement expansion. Of course the potatoes are Irish. Of course the firewater is a 1950's television style Native America. Of course all of the mexican food condiments are gangsters or Mexicans from westerns. Etc. etc. etc.
They had the opportunity to go totally against type, but just went with every stereotype humanly possible.
And yea, the amount of cursing/sex jokes was just so needlessly over the top and unfunny, and I'm a Seth Rogen fan in general.
Yea, plus the anti-religion theme was dumb. Just a bad movie.
-
Made it through the opening song, barely....then turned it off about two minutes after that. I can't obviously speak to just how horrible a movie it was with such a small sample size, but it doesn't take a genius to figure out 'bad' is too kind a word for it.
-
It had its good moments. I saw it in the theater with a pal of mine - on cheap-seat Tuesday... after wings and a few beers. It was a good night out.

I typically enjoy sophomoric humor....I mean, you've read my Caption entries.....but the 15 minutes or so i watched was full of horribly written sophomoric humor and they seemed to go out of their way to insult folks of faith. I can take most 'religious' humor but there's a point where it stops being funny and gets insulting and IMO it became insulting pretty quick.
-
Of course I don't mind religion jokes if it's done just in jest - like Life Of Brian. It's hardly malicious.
But films that go out of their way to just basically go " :lolpalm: haha people with faith...idiots..."
Simon Pegg's "Paul" was like that too.
:lolpalm: Haha Christianity. How can it be true when there's this alien which disproves it all ?!
So you've "proving" something is made up by .....making something up ?
K Cool.

Yep...that was another movie that felt less like making a religious joke and more as you described it....just flat out making fun of people who were 'naive' enough to be people of Faith.
There is a line to that type of humor, in general it's handled well but there are the instances where it's beyond a joke and becomes insulting.
-
Pointing and laughing at people with religious beliefs - even the ones who keep it to themselves and don't do anybody any harm whatsoever -
is pretty much Ricky Gervais entire career at the moment. It's in his movies, his tweets and his stand up.
I've even read tweets by other atheists that he's embarrassing
