Title: Rick and Morty
Post by: LieLowTheWantedMan on April 30, 2015, 09:39:48 PM
Anyone else watch this amazing show? It's only one season in and it's already probably my favourite animated series currently on TV. Can't wait for when the second season drops. If that little snippet on Youtube is any indication, it's gonna live up.

I fucking love R&M. Like you, it rocketed past my other favorite animated shows in just a few episodes. The "Rick Potion #9" episode where they accidentally "Cronenberg" the populace is my favorite one.

Haha it'd be so hard for me to pick a favourite. That one's a contender for sure. I like Meeseeks and Destroy. Rixty Minutes is awesome, especially when you realize the majority of it is indeed improvised like they hint at. :lol  Apparently they're going to do an episode like that every season. I also love Close Rick-Counters of the Rick Kind (the one with the council of Ricks) a lot. Those 4 are all up there, but I think in the end I'd choose Close Rick-Counters.

I've heard that reaction to the Auto Erotic Assimilation episode but I must have missed something (very likely because I was playing The Witcher 3 while it was on) so I really need to rewatch it.

I just wish Patton Oswalt had been in it more.

Get Schwifty wasn't really up to par with the standard so far set this season, but it was still good watching. There haven't been any episodes I even think are mediocre yet really.

So over the past few days, I've gone from not having seen the show, to having watched all of it.

It's one of those shows where, as soon as I watched it, I had to wonder why it took me this long to get around to it. It's fantastic! Just so damn funny.

Also, rarely have I seen the opening act of a show's first episode give the audience such a good idea of what they're in for.

Does everyoe know about the squanchify chrome extension? Here's an example:

Quote
With Quick-Reply you can squanch a post when viewing a topic without loading a squanch page. You squanch still use bulletin board code and smileys as you would in a normal post.

You can adjust the squanch levels and turn it on and off as necessary.

Caught up a few months ago. Funny show, season 2 was much better than the first one. It's a bit too "american" in how it does its comedy, just enough for me not to love it, but it's still really good.

I caught this show randomly while channel surfing at someone else's house.  The channel info said family guy, so i put it on.  I'm not sure yet which episode it was (a whole bunch of Rick imposters), but I found it hilarious and witty, and was pleased to find it was on Hulu.  Im on S1E8 or S1E9 or so.  Great stuff.

It's a welcome change imo. The supporting characters were (with a few expections here and there like the boring deer saving stuff) great for the past two seasons and I'm happy Summer gets more of a role. It adds something to the duality of Rick and Morty.

Based on what you said, in House MD he should have just worked alone. Why didn't they call it "House MD's team" huh?  :lol

I mean.....should the show only be two people? Were you mad when The Fresh Prince had big roles for other characters?

The characters are all great. If the show was ONLY wacky adventures of Rick and Morty, it'd get old. It really needs those other characters and their emotional arcs.

Maybe it's just me, but I wasn't all that impressed with the two latest episodes. They're ok and they're growing on me. But, so far, season 3 isn't hitting me like the first two seasons. Perhaps that's the idea. I just haven't been able to get into it, I guess, as easily as the other seasons. But, that may change. :)

So based on this thread (cheers guys) I started this show over the weekend and binged the first series entirely and watched the first episode of the second series - it's a really great show.   I must confess after the first episode I was kind off torn, I liked the episode, but Rick dribbling was tough for me - it's one of those things that just makes me shudder.   Thankfully although it still happens it's doesn't seem as bad as that first episode,  anyway I can live with it.   Highlights were Mr Meeseeks, fantastic stuff.

So yeah this is a great show, funny and really inventive.   Whats the story behind the two year gap between series 2 & 3?

Just that animation takes a lot of time and the writers took some time to not repeat themselves and start making derivative stuff. So far it's paying off imo.

That was a brilliant episode. Just about every line of dialogue was amazing.

The absolute cynicism of everything that happened, I loved it. Also the random Israel bit was hilarious.

Oddly enough, they really got me with the ending. I truly thought he was talking about Morty, despite knowing he couldn't have been.

Caught up now.  Absolutely brilliant show, so many great episodes.  On the subject of weakest episodes I'd say the one where Morty has the child "Raising Gazorpazorp" and the one with the Floating Head with the X-Factor style music competition 'Get Schwifty".  Neither were bad, but both felt a little off in terms of the normal R&M comedy/story telling.
Title: Re: Rick and Morty

Get Schwifty is one of the best R&M episodes man.

That's why I love this show. Despite me being super jaded and cynical, this show continues to knock me on my ass with things I would never expect and its hilarious.

Love Rick & Morty. Not my favorite Adult Swim show and I still like the older stuff like Aqua Teen, etc. more but R&M is hilarious at its best. This season has been great so far. Wasn't a fan of the Mad Max episode but other than that these have been great. Pickle Riiiiick!

I don't get gutbusting laughs out of this but it's like Futurama to me - lots of small but good jokes that keep me entertained throughout.

I agree that while I absolutely loved the season finale, it did feel a bit like a normal episode. Though when you think about it, it completely changed the dynamic and status quo of the family.

Though I'm a bit let down that the szechuan sauce thing never paid off.

Well, it DID pay off to a certain degree. Yesterday ONLY McDonald's had Szechuan sauce in "limited" supply while they last. I've heard as little as 20 packets at the participating locations (I would have had to drive across town, passing dozens of McD on the way). This has to be a little teaser in preparation for a full return. If not, it would just laugh in the face of traditional business logic. Supply and Demand baby!

I've got one but dude, that short was fairly standard and cheesy  :lol Like, they could have gone in very interesting directions but rather took the safe way with his character.

I'm at least a season behind, but from what I've seen online the feedback seems to be that the new voice actors are fine but YMMV on the writing.
