I don't know if you'll like any of the music I listen to, but what the heck, I'll join.
guns and butter
btw, jingle, do you have a last.fm, or a banned artists list so I can start thinking about what to send?
Enrolment. Santa wears blue (WestJet santa) What's up with you Canucks?
I'm in, prolly.

Apparently I rely too much on spell-check. Supposebly.
I'll be in you again.
Yeah, I'm not sure I'll have the material to do as well as your last roulette Chad, but let's give it a go.
I'm now regretting recommending so many albums to you already
Count me in.
btw, jingle, do you have a last.fm, or a banned artists list so I can start thinking about what to send?
I do. https://www.last.fm/user/jingle-boy for the eager beavers.
Chad, do you have documented what you are familar with, because lately you've been off the charts as far as new music. Gonna me to find something you haven't heard, especially over the last 12 months.
I wanna join! :metal

Yeah, my amount of musical discovery the last 2 years has been pretty significant. Here's my last.fm sorted by the artists.
https://www.last.fm/user/jingle-boy/library?sortBy=name
PM me anytime if you want to check about a particular artist, or list of artists. That goes for anyone.
They're criminally under-rated!
They're criminally under-rated!
I guess if I can still participate, count me in. The band I want to pimp is on your last.fm, but with very few plays, so maybe I can rectify that. Is there a way of seeing which songs you've heard by said band?
Is there a way of seeing which songs you've heard by said band? From the library (the link provided) just find the artist and click the number of plays shown under the picture to bring up the list of songs. It won't be sorted by number of plays but you can click "plays" to remedy that (probably could have figured that part out yourself, but there you go).
Jesus tap dancing christ dude, your last fm is murder. Think I still got a few bands I haven't turned you onto though.....
Sent rounds one and two, not really sure how smooth the next two weeks are gonna roll, so I just want to get them out of the way.
sending something later tonight
Chad, on a side note, thanks for the Festivus card. I always like to see somebody keeping the fanny pack tradition alive.

I'm regretting my submission.
When can I send the round 2 submission? (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/55966936/pics/satan.gif)
One clear "best"
When can I send the round 2 submission? (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/55966936/pics/satan.gif)
Anytime you want. I won't listen until after Round 1 is complete though. As promised, results will be on or before the 22nd. Already have 2 or more listens to each submitted track so far. One clear "best", 2 handfuls of great tracks, and the rest are all solid. Gonna be tough to kick a bunch of you out, but it shall be done.

Cherry Pie next then
It's certainly one of them, no doubt.
I have to admit to being impressed. Very few people know about that album. Excellent stuff. I was equally impressed when I found out that hefdaddy loved the album as well.

I always found that the more obscure cock rock bands were actually really good. Bands like Little Angels, Tall Stories, Spread Eagle, Valentine, Electric Angels, XYZ, Giant, etc. I could go on. Actually Electric Angels' The Drinking Song and True Love & Other Fairytales are two awesome songs I still crank up on occasion.

I'd agree with all that, although I'm not familiar with Electric Angels. That Roxy Blue album is really good. There was plenty of great music around at the time- it just gets a bad rap because of the image. There were plenty of shit bands too.
I want to know who sent what.
The transitions weren't smooth my ass!
THAT SONG IS BEAUTIFUL! I HATE YOUR FACE!
Mad props for whoever sent The Ocean. I wasn't sure if it would be jingle's cup of tea, but at least he got a taste. Good luck to you mystery brother.
Yeah, I cannot believe Y&T was accepted. Must be some sort of special deal with The Big Guy.
Maybe I'll send in some Dokken next round! ;D
btw, jingle, if I get through, what's your tolerance for ridiculously over-the-top power metal? I've got a couple of things I want to try...
Oh, I have stuff much more ridiculous than that... :metal
I wanted to send some Silent Voices in a later round, dammit!
Also, Tame Impala kinda falls into the indie bag and is amazing you suck chad
Yeah, I cannot believe Y&T was accepted. Must be some sort of special deal with The Big Guy.

Dead Letter Circus/Lodestar - Liked the vocals plenty; nice smooth break in the middle. The vocal delivery reminds me a lot of the Elysion song that ultimately bumped you to 2nd place in my first roulette. Not sure why you were so worried.

Not sure who this band is as that wasn't a song from me, but nevertheless I thought the song may have been a bit too alternate for you, besides the melodies being incredible. Glad you liked it. I think something pretty strong and safe next.
Props to the other player who submitted Voyager, another great Aussie band. I hope you get through, they are a quality band.
So what happens now? I've been eleminated, so would I have to wait until a third roulette?
Also, do you like Power Metal at all? Obviously Touchstone isn't your thing 'cause you're a huge wanker, but I have another band in mind if you're into Power Metal.
Wanker. :-*

Warmer... But I know Winger. There are still some glam(ish) bands I don't know... and on my 'mystery band' list.

Elysian/Killing My Dreams was one of the songs that Nem submitted in the final round against you. It was that song that ultimately tipped the scales in her favor.
Aw man, thanks for having me anyways! ;DYeah same here. :lol
Constantine/The Broken Remain – Other than the fact this was 20 minutes of awesome in packed into 10 minutes, I knew nothing about this band. *googles* “Concept Album”. Oohh... full album up on Soundcloud! Yeah, I sense a purchase may be forthcoming.
Well, I forgot to send before I left. I get back in town around the 30th.
4) Round 2 will take place during the holidays. So if you're not in a position to do any of the above, just give me the song name/title/band... if it's online somewhere, I'll find it. If not, I'll let you know and you'll need to chose a different song.
This Broken Remain comes from their second album, Resign Due, which was released a month or so ago.
I submitted this in Kirk's Roullette last year:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmmdPdjEqxc
A track called The Darkest Grace from their first album Devine Design
Although I do Like Resign Due, Devine Design is much better and I'd start there. Hell, get 'em both!
OK, I think I'm still a bit ahead of the curve, but since I was the host this year for both my family and Mrs. Nosehair's family to "do Christmas" I knew I was going to be off the grid for a few days.
But I'm back now. :hat

To be honest my plan is to get past this round and as soon as I'm safe start trolling you with music I'm sure you won't enjoy so it's up to you ;)
I sent today, let me know if you got my submission :)
Chad I sent my song about five days ago. I sent you a message with the band and name of song. Let me know if you need me to resend the link
You got mine, right?
Still waiting on 2 songs, but have listened to all. Good tunes once again. Results next Sunday, or sooner if the two laggards get their ass in gear.

Nick isn't in this, so who is supplying the fail?
Have you acquired my tune?
WHY WONT YOU ANSWER ME?!?!?!?!?!?
The other, well... let's not anger the dark lord.

What, he run out of material after Y&T?

Four songs with "Fire" in the title... and only one of them is completely safe.(https://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100507052506/ikariam/images/6/6e/Emote-Nervous.gif)

wins. Michelle Johnson. 'Nuff said.
Chad I assume I'm one of the 6 undecided since YOU FORGOT TO POST MY SONG and there's only 5 there.
Black Majesty/Firestorm - the only truly safe song with "Fire" in the title. Very good power metal. Not too over the top, nice mix of keys and guitar. Solid vocals. Again... kind of a safe choice. Nothing overwhelming, but nothing underwhelming either.
Find Me/Firefight - On first listen, it was pretty standard/run-of-the-mill Frontiers Records material. It got better with subsequent listens.
My ass now has a bruise. Good luck to the rest in this roulette.
Justified/Temple of the Soul - bosk1
Justified/Temple of the Soul - bosk1
:victorydance:
But by the way, the band name is "Die Happy," not "Justified."
Band: Justified
Song: Temple of Soul
Genres: Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, Christian Rock
Album: Volume II (1993)
Label: Intense Records
You're just like most bitches jingle, you take the good looking jerk and dump the smart nice guy.
Maybe it's for the best. Bands that peaked in 1990 aren't my forte', and that seems to be the direction you are going.
My ass now has a bruise. Good luck to the rest in this roulette.
Your ego too probably. Sorry to give you the boots twice now buddy.
This "jeopardy" thing has me a bit nervous. Hopefully it won't restrict me, I only have so many bands to send you bro.... ::)

Clear as mud. Glad you decided against complicating things.
Good job I saved some good stuff then. Don't think I can teach you anything about Prog Metal.
This "jeopardy" thing has me a bit nervous. Hopefully it won't restrict me, I only have so many bands to send you bro.... ::)
No need to worry. Completely open rounds - send me whatever you want. Here's the format of how it's gonna play out...
Now that we've taken out 1/2 of the group, it's Double Jeopardy. There are 11 of you, and as in my last roulette, there will be an additional, anonymous participant - last.fm (with a randomly selected 'recommendation'). For the next five rounds, you will each bet between $100 and $500, using up each $100 increment over the course of the 5 rounds. You can chose which song/round you want to bet whenever - you could do $500 in round 1, $200 in round 2, $100 in round 3, etc ... whatever you chose. Each round, the 4 best songs will win the bet; the 4 'least best' will lose the bet; 4 will break even. At the end of five rounds, the 3 people with the most $$ will move on to Final Jeopardy: one song, one bet. Same award system - one will win the bet; one loses; one breaks even. He who has the most $$ is the new jingle.champ.
The previously mentioned Mystery Bands also come in to play. If you happen to chose one, that will act as a 'daily double', and you'll have the option to increase your wager to $500, or double it outright (depending on your original bet)
I'm trying to make this creative, yet not complicated.
Any questions, ask away.
Round 3 results will be posted no later than Thursday the 9th.
* - feel free to actually send me the money if you're so inclined.
Are we betting with real money or Monopoly money? I don't have either.
This is a pretty good idea. So basically, it's like betting on sports really. It's like if you have a song you are confident about, you can slam down $500. If you are taking a risk, just bet $100. If the risk doesn't pay off, you lose the $100, instead of wagering a $500, and putting yourself back too many steps.
Something like that?
I'm just about out of things to send you Chad. I think I'm going to have a just throw this thing and send you some of the classic bands I've followed for years that you may not dig. Oh well.

Seriously, you've posted pictures of your CD towers. How can you possibly be out of things to send me?
As a reminder to all, don't automatically assume something I've listened to is automatically off limits. I used the example of Journey earlier (which, ironically I would now consider off limits - I bought 7 of their albums over the holidays to 'catch up'). But there are lots of bands that have lots of albums, and I only know 1 or a few of them. If I don't know a song, I'm willing to take it. There may be a few exceptions, but by-and-large, don't feel submissions NEED to be songs where I completely don't know the band.
OK good. I have a 2 hour sludge metal track I think you might like.
:neverusethis:
Sent for $300, though I think I used Łs in the e-mail.

Infinity, Evolution, Departure, Escape, Frontiers, Trial By Fire, Revelation, Eclipse.Almost all of the good ones in there. You'll definitely want Arrival too, once you're through all of those.
Sent and threw down $200.
Have all but three submissions (Zook, Elite, nekov). Gonna start listening tonight whether I have them or not.
Are we there yet?

That confident huh? lol. Would you have wagered that on the Ashes before a ball was bowled? And look how that turned out... hangs head (and the batting line-up) in shame.

Eight... I mis-counted.

That's crazy! Hope you're enjoying them.
Trying to. But I gots Roulette listening to do, as well as getting primed for ProgNation at Sea, so I'm trying to immerse myself in that lineup for the next 6 weeks - at least, for the bands that I'm interested in.
Arrival probably isn't my absolute favourite Journey album, but it is one of my favourites and it is easily their most consistent album. Consistently great and not consistently shit, aswell.
Yeah.... but.... it's got Steve Augeri on the mic!?!? I have the Journey 2001 DVD, and man, that was painful the watch. Not so much the performances, but Steve trying to be more Perry than Augeri; the crowd acting and looking like a bunch of '80s teenagers, when they were '00 adults. It was comical, and I just have trouble taking that lineup seriously.Well I haven't seen that DVD, since I'm not really into live CDs/DVDs much at all, so I can't comment on that. But from what you've said, Steve Augeri on disc and Steve Augeri live must be very different. He was a pretty good fit for the band and the music on the albums he appears, and I never had any problem with him. Maybe it's different live when he's singing Perry songs.
My copy of Frontiers has both Ask The Lonely and Only The Young. ??? Perhaps it's a reissue?Yeah it is. The reissue of Frontiers has four extra tracks. bl5150 is right too, those tracks do make what was an already good album and make it better.

Best song of the round, without a doubt.:hat
Bosk1:
Dave Miniketti/Storm - Solid, solid tune. Killer solo in the middle of it with some really neat effects. I loved it alright, just wasn't "gaga" for it. It wasn't "Pam". "Paaaaam".
That's no "effect." It's all fingers. He does it on a Les Paul by turning the volume all the way down on the neck pickup (so it is "off"), and flipping the pickup toggle switch super fast with his right hand while fretting the notes with this left. He does it on a few songs. Check out at about 2:53 here to see what I am talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjuZzyzC7ygTom Morello (Rage Against The Machine) used to do almost the same thing. His guitars had a 3-way pickup switch and he wired them so that the sound was off when in the middle position, and quickly flipped the switch to turn the sound on/off. I can't remember any specific songs to use an example.
I've never seen anyone else ever do that technique.

Dare ain't half bad either.
:D
Did you get a bit of a Queen vibe from that song? That's one of the reasons I really like it. Their first album is amazing so you should get it if you can. I recently got the second one and still trying to digest it, very different from the first.
:( do you accept paypal?
In regard to Brazen Abbot, Eye Of The Storm is the best of the bunch by a good distance and some albums aren't great. I'd Spotify them first.

First person I saw do this was Ace Frehley.
So, if I already used my $500 bet, I cannot use it again, right?
So, if I already used my $500 bet, I cannot use it again, right?
Right. You can bet $400, $300, $200, $100 ... whichever round/song you wish.
And just like Jeopardy (for those in a deficit), it doesn't matter. You can wager whatever you wish (that you haven't already used).
Clear as mud, right? I'll give a couple of example.
TAC finished Round 1 with $500. Round two he bets $200, and is in the bottom four. His total after round 2 is $300. His remaining wager amounts can be $100, $300, $400.
Zook finished Round 1 with -$100. Round two he lets it ride with a $500 bet and is in the top four. His running total is now $400. His remaining wager amounts can be $200, $300, $400.
and so on.
At the end of 5 rounds, the top 3 will compete in Final Jeopardy.
Blast your Lastfm and similar musical taste to me! Several songs shot down in flames. Will send this evening.
Here's my last.fm (https://www.last.fm/user/jingle-boy/library?sortBy=name) again for you to check before submitting a band/song
Feel free to ask or try any band you like. Since I'm not doing this to discover new bands, I'll pretty much take any song I don't know. So, even though I have a lot of listens to Journey for instance, there's also a lot by them that I don't know. However, I do retain the right to reject any submission if I know the band just a little too much.

So, Bolsters ignored (rightfully so) my 80ish plays of Stratovarious since they were only from 2 albums. I can think of a handful of bands you (and others fretting about whether they have enough material) could send. My last.fm stats are like the drinking age in Quebec ... merely a suggestion. I'll really only outright reject bands that I know/have at least 2/3rd of their discography.
Dio fronted Sabbath, Iced Earth and a song featuring the mighty Joe Lynn Turner all lose.
I know... things are tough. I'm actually very shocked that I can't seem to find the right Sabbath song. Like I said to you, Neon Knights is one of my favorite songs from the 80s. Period.
Which losing song featured JLT?
Those are some heavy bets, boys.
I'm in for $400 on this round so fingers crossed. Those are some heavy bets, boys.
Says the man who nailed his maximum bet last round. :\
I thought I lost.
2nd... if you fuckers insist on sending me great music, it better be available online for me to sample the whole album. I can't find Yargos, Brazen Abbot, or Forward Shapes anywhere to sample. >:( Might just be making blind purchases.
Any Canada bias in any of those?
Hey, yeah, I'll go $200 this time, thanks

I can neither confirm or deny that.

Whops :P
I assure you the band I sent this round can be found online. And on my defense, since your library is so extensive I'm having to pull some shit from the dark corners of my library
Ok, two things before we get moving.
1st, for the Stratovarius fans. Knowing that Episode and Fright Night are only 'meh' in my books, I was floored by Nemesis. Any other essential albums that are more like Nemesis?
2nd... if you fuckers insist on sending me great music, it better be available online for me to sample the whole album. I can't find Yargos, Brazen Abbot, or Forward Shapes anywhere to sample. >:( Might just be making blind purchases.
Must not be licensed for US Spotify then. I tried "hacking" my way in to the UK Spotify, but no luck. The album is 'greyed out'.

for the Stratovarius fans. Knowing that Episode and Fright Night are only 'meh' in my books, I was floored by Nemesis. Any other essential albums that are more like Nemesis? As wolfie mentioned, Elysium is probably the closest to Nemesis, and Polaris after that. Though unlike him I think Nemesis is twenty times better than Elysium. :lol I haven't really been able to get into either Polaris or Elysium, but like you I was floored by Nemesis.
And... two people (they know who they are) have landed on the Mystery Band list, and both chose to double their bet.How many of these Mystery Bands are there?
How many of these Mystery Bands are there?
Ok, two things before we get moving.

I think Nemesis will end up my fave of theirs by some way. It's already become mine. I was a big fan of them in high school, however I lost interest in Stratovarius many years ago. Nemesis though has renewed my interest and while the majority of the early stuff doesn't exactly scratch me where I itch anymore, Nemesis most definitely does.
99 Degrees is another.
Chad not too keen on Episode isn't a sign of what he might think of the old stuff. Episode did absolutely nothing for me, and is one of the weakest. Saying that, IMO Twilight Time is incredible and would probably make my top 5.Episode was one of my favourites of early Strat, probably why my view is the opposite of yours.
Four listens in, and all I know is the top 2 and the bottom 2
Beardfish - And The Stone Said "If I Could Speak"
Freakeys - One Cup, One Lighter, One Jerk
Sonata Arctica - Don't Say A Word
The Third Ending - Tungsten Blues
You guys try to figure out which is which. Yeah, the mind fuck continues.
Results tomorrow (probably).
Chad, what were your thoughts on Elysium?
Chad, what were your thoughts on Elysium?
Very good. A couple of tracks were so so, but for the most part it was very good.
Well, hopefully Beardfish isn't bottom two, but considering your dislike of them, that's gonna be one. Old SA is up your alley so that is top two. I don't know the others, but based on the name of the band I'm guessing Freakeys is also bottom two.
Now tell me I'm right and give me a cookie.
Tonight? Come on man! I'm dying here
I'm serious, I've spent the last 2 hours figuring out what I'm going to send the next rounds
I expect them by clock out time, 11pm your time. :-*
I expect them by clock out time, 11pm your time. :-*
And I'm expecting a blowjob on March 14th, doesn't mean I'm getting it. You can expect whatever you want, whenever the fuck you want it. :P
Damn bro, somebody pee in your Cheerios?

Starting to type writeups. Results shortly ... provided mrs.jingle doesn't want to, you know, chat or anything.
BUT THEY'RE CANADIAN!
Nice.
And damn the Aussie- who woulda thunk you didn't know Sonata Arctica? Starting to get used to getting beat by the Aussies after the recent Ashes series. At least our women can still put up a good fight in that regard
I had a crisis of confidence after sending that track as there are several great songs on that album. Went with the big riff and it seems to have paid off.
Going to have to go big this round I think...
I really have no idea what other bands could be mystery ones for Chad.
sent for $400
Chad, you had me listed at $400 for the last round, but I had gambled $500
I swear bro, I'm gonna punch your last.fm right in the fucking cunt.
Sending again....
I really have no idea what other bands could be mystery ones for Chad.
Yes you do, you just don't know that you know it.
Still doesn't change the fact that your last.fm is getting cunt-punched bro...
Sent - and If I'm going down, it will be with this song.
Eden's Curse and Aching Beauty
Eden's Curse I kinda figured you had listened to, and as to Aching Beauty, I probably messaged them to you and forgot.
Just waiting on Zook and Bosk
Sent FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS!
Sent FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS!
Just like you did last round! What's your new wager?
only if you sent one of the mystery bands
OK, $400 then.
only if you sent one of the mystery bands
Jezuz! He's not even in the competition anymore and gets it! :tup

Well it's not like you explained it to me you tyrannical puppet freak!
Keanu Reeves: I shall take Balloons for $800, if you please.
Alex Trebek: That's not a category.
Keanu Reeves: My mistake. I shall choose Balloons for $600.
Who's ready for The Mind Games to begin?
Come on, mystery band!
How can I pick a mystery band?
Off topic, I still have that free meal waiting at my restaurant for you bosk....

It's a mystery.
I think it's just a kiss ass way of letting the "DTF guy" double his bets. ;D
And I'm totally okay with that.
Once you start paying proper homage, you may find yourself getting special privileges too.
I think it's just a kiss ass way of letting the "DTF guy" double his bets. ;D
Actually, I shared the list with another member not in this roulette. I'm sure they'd be more than happy to rat me out if I ever designate a band a "mystery" that isn't.
Who's ready for The Mind Games to begin?
I think they're all just in his mind.
I can one-up that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRUM__-vXEA
Suspyre... happy power metal? I'm not super familiar with them, but I never heard that, personally.
or it can be like trying to undo a bra for the first time.
Circle of Illusion/New AgeYou crazy.
Took a long time to get rolling. Great guitar riff, followed by prog metal goodness. Really technical. It felt compositionally challenged; overall, it didn't flow very well together for me... Like the pieces of the songs were haphazardly stitched together. I really enjoyed all the individual pieces, but as a whole, it just left me feeling a little limp.

I'll be sending the next one later tonight.
Doesn't mean you're not crazy, nuts, insane, bonzo, no longer in possession of one's faculties, three fries short of a Happy Meal, or WACKO. :-*You crazy. You broke even at least!
I was worried. Alter Bridge were never my thing but that track and plenty off the new album are excellent.
Wow, I just lost everything. No regrets as Trumpets is possibly my fav song of all time. That's the way it goes.
So am I out of the game then? I just don't understand.
By the way, you suck.
tl:dr ... share me some awesome music you fucker. :zook1:(https://cdn.styleforum.net/7/72/300x197px-LL-723ab1ff_misc-got-a-badass-over-here.png)
You just added that...
I was worried. Alter Bridge were never my thing but that track and plenty off the new album are excellent.
Didn't know you were into them.
Getting ready to send but torn between three songs by the same band... And playing them again isn't helping. Can I send all 3? :biggrin:I was worried. Alter Bridge were never my thing but that track and plenty off the new album are excellent.

I've only really enjoyed the new one. Not really given the older stuff much of a go tbh.

Sent for $500. And no Robert Plant.

Sorry mate. :dunno: Not sure why Bruce's solo stuff doesn't click with me. I remember that after your top 50, I tried a bit of Chemical Wedding, but I was underwhelmed. Then again, you like the Blaze era Maiden, and I can't stand it.
Tastes... who needs 'em?!?!
I am listening to Reckoning Night right now, and enjoying it.

Pro tip: The Honeydrippers are NOT a Mystery Band.
Well, that sucks and you suck Chad! Also, you got the band name/song name mixed up......
OK, so just to make sure what's going on...am I sending you another song now? Or am I finished? I honestly have no idea. :lol

Still 2 more rounds for everyone. Just like Jeopardy, doesn't matter if you're in the hole or not. YOU still have a $100 and $400 wager to use.
Damn... didn't realize I made things as complicated as I did! :D If everyone would just file along into my brain, you'd all be fine.
I'm sorry for taking so long.. I haven't been home since Monday morning, due to unforeseen circumstances. I'll try to send something tonight.
No worries. Hopefully they were good "unforseen circumstances" and not because you got a bad batch of Zydar's goods, woke up in a motel room wearing nothing but a thong, with a strange (yet familiar) taste in your mouth, and an empty tube of KY on the night stand.

This is the strongest round yet, and every song deserves to earn money. Alas, they won't. Couple of songs nailed it though. HARD. The rest are fighting for spots 3 and 4. Honestly, if I was using a 10 point rating system, everything is an 8 or higher (after 2 listens).
All of you get the :evilmonkey:
When did you get promoted to "Executive head chef"?
When did you get promoted to "Executive head chef"?
That happened a while ago. I think I've more than earned it here though. :RJ: :lonestar: :extrabacon:
I haven't had a sausage that good since lonestar's.
Are we getting results any time soon?
To hell with you. I'm going to bed! I'll check them out in the a.m.
Damn, from the write-up I was expecting to have won some money. It really must have been a strong round as you said. I'd better head off to Spotify.
You won't find my band on Spotify, but I checked and they're on Grooveshark. I only bring it up because I wholly recommend their first two albums, however I can't recommend the third one at all. I'd suggest listening to it last or avoiding it altogether.
Oh, and did you figure out that I effectively sent you video game music (albeit a cover)? :lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xMZo4Kvau4
Winter's Bane is definitely not Ripper's best work.
Figured that much :P, I wasn't sure if you were checking Last.fm pages, Wikipedia entries, etc. for any of the submissions or not though.Oh, and did you figure out that I effectively sent you video game music (albeit a cover)? :lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xMZo4Kvau4Nope, never played Final Fantasy ... any iteration.

Flotsam & Jetsam :metal
So, let's see. Since I'm in last place my wager gets doubled automatically? What happens if I send a mystery band (chances are that I won't though :P )?
Wait...I finished second, and somehow still lost? Most confusing game ever.
So I can pretty much send you whatever since it doesn't really matter?
So whatever I send you'll listen to right?
So whatever I send you'll listen to right?
Yes. *here comes the Krautchraut*
So whatever I send you'll listen to right?
Yes. *here comes the Krautchraut*
What the hell is Krautchraut?
DAMN RIGHT!
DAMN RIGHT!
Anyway, they're banned.
Most of that Anthriel CD is good, but then you get to Promised Land and it's Dream Theater's Afterlife. I was OK with the Symphony X similarities in the other songs, but they pretty much copied Afterlife to a T in the verses of Promised Land.
So, does this mean I am done now?
Winter's Bane is definitely not Ripper's best work.
Goodnight.
Was I supposed to be sending something too? I'm not really sure.
:-\ I really thought I'd win the wager with that song. Oh well, one last fail awaiting for me...

And rejected. Dig deeper.
Expect something in 12 hours. I'm off to work. Sorry I'm running so late with this.
I'm sent. Decided to go with something nowhere near your comfort zone since it doesn't matter if I lose, and I did say I'd send a mix of things before this began (and I kind of went back on that a little).

I find your lack of faith (in The Dead Milkmen) disturbing.
What's fucked up is that jingle changed the thread title to round 7, yet posted no round six results.
How about holding off on results till say...February 15th, and letting me re-send? :lol
Ok, guess I'll save it for Jaffa's then.... :burns:

Hope you had fun dude.
Way to cheat Lowdz out of his victory. With the way you set it up, there is no reason not to bet it all. The worst you can do is hold your standing.
I would have had a better chance of being on the top 3 had you retained that, because I definitely would not have sent the same song. :P Sorry you thought it was bland...I picked one of their more celtic songs thinking there was a small chance you might like that. Oh well, I'm not exactly surprised considering just what it was I sent. (https://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/o669/bolsters/shrug.gif~original)
I already had no idea what to send for the final round, my own fault for sending my best ideas in the main rounds because I didn't think I'd make it this far. But this 20 minute thing has really thrown me off. I'll send something tonight, probably.
"Suck it, Trebek" in Final Jeopardy.
I was thinking of it more as a positive thing. A couple of times in the other rounds I was struggling with which song to send as there were a few contenders. With this approach I could have sent them all.
And then shove it in Chad's CAN!!
Wolfking ($100)
Cloudscape/Under Fire
Mystery Band #2 this round. Now I know why they are high on my 'check-it-out' list. Damn... Why did I wait! Near perfect melodic metal. Not entirely unique, but (just as in Bosk’s submission) there are only so many variations to this genre... And it doesn't really matter, because this scratches me right where I itch. Song of the round.

Alright, thinking caps on for what to send on the last round. The pressure here is immense, but knowing Paul, I doubt he'll blow this. 20 minutes hey? hmmm...
Well if Chad has any taste at all I won't :lol :lol

Yeah, well... that's what the chef thought too! :neverusethis:
I was away all weekend and have been buried at work yesterday and today! Sorry! I either need more time, or you can go on without me if need be. No hard feelings if the latter.

I like the Goo Goo Dolls. They've got a lot of great songs.
F*ck the Goo Goo Dolls. They can suck my balls. They look like the dogs that hang out at the mall.
Well, he can say what he wants about the Goo Goo Dolls, but his band is literally a joke. :neverusethis:

Why I'm doing this? Mostly for shits and giggles. Not really doing this to discover new bands, just listen to some awesome music, and have fun
Congrats Lowdz!!! :metal
yeah but when are you going to buy that pathfinder album
Well, better than SymX anyway
:symphonyx:
Does naked lap of honour around Lowdz mansion :omg:
It does help having very similar musical taste I guess. You complete me you big bold Cannuck. :heart
With regard to Praying Mantis, I didn't find anything that great about their previous stuff. This album is certainly far better than anything else.
I like Pathfinder though!
Cheers guys. It was fun.

Bosk/Rodrigo Y Gabriela
Songs - Tamacun; Orion
God damn these were fun tunes to listen to. Completely 100% outside of the musical box I would normally be in. And Im really glad you insisted on my watching them live. Theres a certain je ne cest quoi in listening/watching them live vs the studio recordings. If it was just left to the latter, I think I likely would have quickly dismissed it. Theres so much more energy in their live playing.
Other listening notes: Dayum! This puts the fun in Funky. Very cool.
Top Shelf
TAC/Glass Mind
Songs - Haunting Regrets; Crepusculum Vehementis; Beyond Our Souls
God Bless you good citizen. These three tracks were all genius, and instantly grabbed my attention. Top notch. Great talent, great sound, excellent compositions. It’s a good thing I didn’t rely solely on the Grooveshark links, as they were demo-quality sound. The actual album tracks are so much more sonically robust. And what’s this?? They’re going to be on the ProgNation at Sea cruise in 10 days. :happydance: Best submissions by far. By FAR. Purchase is definitely impending.
Other listening notes: Brilliant intro; Great guitar riffs; great percussion; killer fills and solos; Killer instrumental; More killer work on the skins.
Oh yeah. Purchase was made this morning. Killer album. Killer.
Oh yeah. Purchase was made this morning. Killer album. Killer.
The groove shark versions had a different vocalist. Someone much cleaner than the album I have. The vocals were the weak link but the guy sings with so much feeling that it has kind of a charm.
OK, just got over the shock of seeing UFO on your mystery band list. Wtf dude?
edit: you need the fifth Thunderstone album for a start. :getoffmylawn:
Biggest whiner:
Wolfking for bitching about not getting an award.
j/k bro. I was actually surprised you didn't give me Spiritual Beggars (and was hoping you would).
It's Tools of Destruction btw. That's a really good one. If you weren't going to buy one it should have been their debut.
So you're telling me you've never heard Strangers in the Night, one of the greatest live albums of all time. :omg:
So, what I am beginning to take from all this is that this thread was less of a "roulette" and more of a desperate cry for help. I, for one, am proud of DTF for stepping up to the plate and helping a poor lost soul. It's what makes this place special! :)
OK, just got over the shock of seeing UFO on your mystery band list. Wtf dude?

You never saw them on my last.fm either. I've heard smatterings here and there... but like many other bands (Rainbow and Dio too), were just a tad under my radar back in the day.edit: you need the fifth Thunderstone album for a start. :getoffmylawn:
It's Tools of Destruction btw. I got the first two, and most recent two. Not really sure why, but I was limiting myself to 4 albums. Otherwise, I would've been in trouble just with Stryper (which I still have to figure out where to start).
