Like I said, this is an appreciation thread. If you have negative comments, leave them in the other threads where the haters are enjoying their feeding frenzy! please add your reasons why YOU think this song rocks :metal
My take..... This is what I've been waiting for. An extremely complex, classically structured prog-metal song with a great tune and some outstanding playing. I'm really glad to hear Mangini unleashed. I'm really happy for him that he's finally hooked up with a band that can pretty much keep up with his abilities. I think it's pretty obvious the push he has given the DT guys with his massive capabilities has shown itself in this song.
I like all of these things about the song - just MO:
1. Classical based structure
2. Awesome intro
3. Great Solos
4. Great guitar sound from the base in spots (that's why JM seems to now be heard sometimes in the song)
5. Insane time signatures
6. Insane time signature changes
7. Mangini unleashed
8. GREAT Vocals
9. Awesome melody and chorus (bridge too)
10. Best album single ever (IMO) lets not debate it.
11. Much more, but too excited to even remember it all.

Most of what I think about the song is in the other thread. I am not ready to breathe a sigh of relief about the album, but I think this song turned out well!
-
Really? What's wrong with the discussion thread?
-
Some people don't like their precious opinions being disagreed with I guess. :P
-
Well, don't worry, I'm sure by next week, people will be like, "Man, it really grew on me since I first heard it! This song is such a massive grower!"
-
Really? What's wrong with the discussion thread?
I would like to actually see something where people can have positive input without the detractors. Is that actually allowed on this forum? I wonder sometimes.
-
I know this is the big day, but do we need 3 different threads for this song?

This is my point. did you need to show up in this thread to complain about having another thread. I'd be willing to bet that this thread will die fast because it seems to be impossible for people to just say good things.

Well, you see, um, I, uh KISS MY BUTT!

lol

Well, you see, um, I, uh KISS MY BUTT!
You uh... Kiss your butt? That's pretty talented. ;D

You mean you can't?
-
You mean you can't?
No, but I can obviously derail a thread. :lol
-
I think I'll just sit back here and watch the "appreciation" thread get ruined by people that just feel compelled to fuck up anything that's meant to be good and positive.
-
I think it has more to do with the fact that having two discussion threads about the same song is dumb.
-
we don't need an appreciation thread just because some people don't like the song, or think it's just ok.
-
This is dumb.
-
Your face is dumb. Damnit, johncal is right, it is impossible to say good things.

I like the Rush-like riff. I like the solo. I like the keyboard part about 3/4 in. I liked the vocals. Felt like a style I've never heard from James on a DT album.
The only thing I didn't like was the mix of this single which I'm sure DT did not play a part in. I'm sire the album version will allow me to properly hear every member of DT as any good mix should be.
-
I think we should start a new Enemy Inside thread with a poll to decide what the next Enemy Inside thread will be about.
-
I was thinking about starting a "The Enemy Inside Appreciation Thread Appreciation Thread"
-
The Enemy Inside Appreciation Thread: Platinum Edition
:O
-
The Enemy Inside Thread V : The Wrath of Bosk .
-
I really like it. It is the best DT single I have heard since I started following them in 2002.

As cool as it is that you felt the need to start an appreciation thread, and as much as it pains me to type these next few words: Zook is right. There really isn't any need to have multiple threads for the song. MOST of the feedback really has been positive, so it's not like we need a separate thread to "balance out" the other one. So, again, it is appreciated, but also unnecessary.
