Anyone else madly excited about the new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm premiering in August?
-
Yes, I'm interested to see where they go with the show and if the Blacks will be involved. Leon was one of the funniest characters last season. Seasons 3 and 6 are by far the funniest.
My wife is a huge Suzie Green fan.
Also, all the Seinfeld people will be on this season.....
-
YES!!! I can't fucking wait. Though am in England, so shall have to wait. Seinfeld cast will be in it, and I hear that Loretta will be returning for series 7. Personally, I can't wait, because by the final episode of series 6 I was starting to get a raging boner for Loretta, and I find Cheryl was starting to become incredibly bland (though she too will be returning). Amazing TV show
-
Curb Your Enthusiasm is the best thing to ever come out of HBO and I can't wait for the new season to kick off.
-
I am now! I tend not to follow shows when they aren't airing so i rely on word of mouth to find out when they are starting again. I've been wondering when it was starting again.
-
it will be interesting to see how they use Michael Richards and if they incorporate what happened to him into the show
-
My wife is a huge Suzie Green fan.
One of the best characters on television.
-
Im looking forward to more Suzie and Loretta encounters
-
Best episode was the Dodgers game and the extra ticket. The funniest way to use the fast lane ever!

I wanna big hot dog and a milk shake :rollin :rollin :rollin
My favorite episode ever has to be Crazy Eyes Killa..... or maybe the swearing chef.
-
The best has to be Larry dislodging the pube stuck in his throat while wrestling Joseph in the nativity scene with his in-laws watching.
Tell me of another show that could pull off what i just described.

or when he managed to put an everlast condom on inside out and accidentally made his wife's vagina numb :lol

I absolutely love this show. Sadly, I have some catching up to do. I believe I haven't seen an episode since the middle of season 4. But I'll definitely do so before S6 airs. Funny, considering that my parents used to watch Seinfeld all the time and I couldn't stand it, and still don't see the humor in it for whatever reason. David makes this show his own, however. He puts a twist on it by adding a mixture of surreal comedy and real life situations; my sides split every time I watch it.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is just amazing.

it's actually season 7 coming up. Don't worry, I'm sure HBO will have a big marathon of prior seasons leading up to the premiere and they are probably also On Demand as well...
-
Season 3 finale (NSFW!!!!!). One of the funniest things I ever saw when it first aired. I fell off the couch in tears LMAO....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iv-tmqV99U0 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iv-tmqV99U0)
let me also say that I never liked Richard Lewis until this show
-
I love the scene when he is in Starbucks
Larry: I'll have a vanilla... one of those vanilla bullshit things. You know, whatever you want, some vanilla bullshit latte cappa thing. Whatever you got.
Larry: This is very good by the way. Thank you! It's a cafe latte?... What is that... milk?
Starbucks employee: Milk... uh... and coffee.
Larry: Milk and coffee! Who would've thought? Milk and coffee! Oh my God. What a drink! It's milk and coffee, mixed together!
-
i love everything about this show as you can see on my profile picture...
I have all 6 seasons on DVD and every episode is hillarious. I wish Leon would make a return for Season 7 because he was seriously a fantastic character in season 6.
ENJOY!

I know Loretta, Cheryl and the Seinfeld cast is going to be in season 7 but I never heard of Leon coming back.

I finally got around to watching this show. Currently halfway through season one and I'm loving it.

Dude, season one is nothing compared to what season 3 and 4 are going to hit you with.
-
I don't have a favorite character on the show cause all the characters are so fuckin annoying and I hate them with a passion except for Larry David.
I think he writes the other characters extra annoying, what we get is truly how he sees them.
Larry is awesome heh
-
I've only ever seen this once, and I had it muted while I was talking to someone on the phone.
It looked pretty spectacular though from what I saw, really bizarre stuff.

You can't possibly fathom the amount of hilarious awkwardness you're missing out on.

There is no script, he doesn't know what the other characters are going to say. They know the rough idea of the scene, and the whole thing is improved..... Blame the other characters, not Larry David.
-
incredible show. so many of the scences are just jaw-dropping hillarious. you get an idea of what might be about to happen, then you tell yourself "no, that cant be where this is going," then it goes there and you just fall out of your chair laughing.
one of my all time favorite shows.
supreme awkward turtle.

This is exactly what happens to me :rollin

Has anyone seen Whatever Works yet?
-
nope, although I've heard it's decent.
Season 7 starts in about a month. I heard the plotline revolves around : (SPOILER)
Possible Seinfeld reunion which is why the seiunfeld cast members are in it. I read they will be in 5 or 6 of the episodes. Of course in reality there will be no reunion

I'm going to see Whatever Works today, it's playing in a theater that is pretty far from me ut it's worth the trip.
Un-fuckin-fortunatly Icame across that spoiler too, even though I didn't want to, some asshole just posted it on his website without warning.

:lol Well I must find a way to watch episode 1! I hope Foxtel is getting episode 2 >:(
-
I saw the ad for it weeks ago and have been eagerly anticipating it...if only I had a TV.
anyone know how to see it legally?
-
Nope, I saw it illegally.. but then again I buy the DVD box sets when they come out so that's okay heh
The first episode was awesome, I just watched it for the second time, I won't say/spoil anything though until at least one other person here sees it.
-
I just watched this show for the first time, episode 1 season 7. and I am almost in tears. I love this show already :lol :lol :lol

u should really go back and catch up on the past seasons so you get a better idea of all the characters. This season opener was great. His reaction when told she had cancer was hysterical

Is it me or was Cheryl so freakin hot in the new episode?
-
she looked really good :yarr
-
The second episode in the new season is prob one of my fav episodes.
SECOND HAND SEMEN part was hillarious.
Not really sure about the 3rd episode of seinfeld reunion but im looking forward to the new episode tonight.
-
I just got into this show seeing the seinfeld reunion as the first episode lol, it was like a vulgar seinfeld clip. I'm going to spend my sunday watching season one of curb.
Lol,
Jerry: The tip is a solo piece larry!
-
may I ask how you watched it...I am really dying to see the Seinfeld episodes
-
may I ask how you watched it...I am really dying to see the Seinfeld episodes
So far there has only been one Seinfeld oriented episode and a special about the season called "It's not a reunion show but it's the closest thing to it".
And you can find them on torrent sites, I wish you told me you wanted them before I left for work I would have just uploaded them on rapidshare or megaupload for you since you don't like torrent sites.
-
may I ask how you watched it...I am really dying to see the Seinfeld episodes
On HBO, yeah it's the only episode so far, shoot me a pm.

its the only episode so far with the seinfeld cast. There are been 2 or 3 others, all of which have been funny as hell.
-
"I'll bend that bitch like beckham" :lol
Leon is slowly becoming my favorite character on the show right after Suzie.
-
Lol I'm watching curb from the beginning I just got all the episodes, when suzie makes her first appearance it was too funny.
Or the episode "The Doll" where she sees larry and jeff at the premier and she starts mouthing "You fat fucking idiot" I was all over the floor. Curb has easily made it's way into my top 5 shows, although cheryl is really annoying the first few seasons
-
Just wait, Suzie Green gets even better....
Very glad they kept Leon even after the rest of the Black family left.
Larry "She left.. you know what this means?"
Leon "I'm going eat my mutherfuckin chinese food in my mutherfucking room"
Handicapped Denise was funny as hell even though I loathe Rosie O'Donnell. Denise was played by Anita Barone who played Gail Cunningham in a Seinfeld episode (the one where Elaine sneezed on the pasta primavera and George got caught looking at a young Denise Richard's cleavage.. GET A GOOD LOOK COSTANZA?!?!)
-
Don't forget Wheelchair Wendy
-
"I want you in my wallet" lmao
-
This season is most excellent so far.
-
I just download the latest episode and mid way through watching it and I gotta say that civilization needs to clone Larry David or preserve his DNA to make more Larry Davids later, that guy will not happen again.
"I'm lifting with my legs what the fuck do you think I'm lifting with?!"
-
"put the fucking pie down!"
one of the better scenes in recent memory. textbook curb - but perfectly executed.
-
Finally got into this show after a while of vague interest. Finished season 1, and about to start watching number 2.
-
"put the fucking pie down!"
one of the better scenes in recent memory. textbook curb - but perfectly executed.
I love when larry starts creaming at susies daughter to "Shut The Fuck UP!" when he is crashing at their place
-
Just bought all six seasons of Curb from Sam's Club for $9 a piece. Gorgeous.
-

Wow, that's a steal. For an HBO series, at least.
-
I saw a pair of Larry David looking shoes the other day, and was like LOL I should get those!
EDIT: nice thread revival/bump and I'm almost through season 1, it's fucking BRILLIANT! :corn
-
Last week's episode may have been of the best ever. from the readthrough to Michael Richards and Leon to a few other things I won't mention. Classic...
caqn't believe this season is almost over, boy did it fly by and did not disappoint
-
My only problem with the episode was the "pussy" thing went a little overboard. Like, no one would never start repeating that to everyone else. I know it's Curb, but still. :lol
BTW saw "Trick of Treat" last night for the first time. Genius.
-
amazing episode, and agreed that the 9 year old was too much for me
-
well this 9 year old i am seeing has a rash on her pussy...
-

Ep10 :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol So great
-
Ep10 :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol So great
Damn gotta download it, I forgot to watch it.
-
Mocha Joe guy needs to be in more tv shows... i remember seeing him in Becker(ted danson's show) as a main role guy.
The season was great although at first i was disapointed with the finale but after watching it 2 more times ON DEMAND, its def. a great episode. Overall a great season and hopefully there will be another one because this one flew by fast...
-
Yeah this season did fly by quickly. I liked the finale. lol, do you respect wood?
-
the finale was really enjoyable, sort of predictable ending in terms of story (not details, i actually didn't think they would use both those call backs)
having said that, i want more jerry/larry time. 'its really more of a pamphlet...'
one of my friends who is familiar with the show but only because of me said the chemistry between larry and jerry 'is almost too much, but for some reason it works; its like their father and son' i agree, i feel like the two of them together could be too much, but somehow they actually balance each other and make it feel so casual.
-
She's got a rash on her pussy.
-
Krup you!
-
I forgot what to say, but our marriage has been prettaaaayyyyyyyyy prettaaaaaaayyyyyyyy prettaaaaaayyyyyyy pretty good!
-
those were some hilarious episodes.

I just saw that episode for the first time a few nights ago! :hat
-
watching season 1 episode 1 now :hat
-
"You got some long ass balls, Larry"
:rollin
-
Just watched the season 7 finale, I liked it, it was chilling to see new Seinfeld scenes after all these years of re-watching the original 9 seasons over and over.
I was expecting more Seinfeld scenes though, I'm betting they're gonna have it as an extra feature when this season's DVD comes out.
"I'm Larry David, I enjoy wearing women panties" hehe
-
"You got some long ass balls, Larry"
:rollin
:rollin I remember that. Leon is like the best black character ever :metal

Larry David's article for the New Yorker, which I found fairly amusing:

-
Te first stage part was the best :lol

Thank god we are getting more. A world without Curb is like a world without happiness.

As a big Seinfeld fan . . . the last season was a geek's wet dream come true. Looking forward to the new one!

And it got someone acquited on a murder charge!
-
I cane wait for the premier tonight! I watched the teasers several times tonight. I cant wait to see what the plane scene is all about. :lol
-
There are only three shows that I will watch on television; obviously Seinfeld rules. The other two are Trailer Park Boys and the amazing Curb Your Enthusiasm
-
19 MINUTES.
-
That opener was awesome.
-
Excellent episode.
-
So I'm finally getting back to watching these. I quit watching them a couple of years ago, coincidentally, the episode right before his worthless cunt of a wife leaves him. Now I've restarted season 6, cuz, well the Blacks and all. Thankfully, it doesn't take long to get Susie involved. God damn I love that woman.
Here's where I have a big problem, though. Sometimes LD is a fantastic character. Sometimes he's an idiot and/or an asshole. I love this style of comedy, and farce in general, but it really only works if you like the character who causes all of the situations to begin with. Most of the time, Larry's a decent guy who, often through no fault of his own, winds up in bizarre situations that he's tragically ill-equipped to cope with. He's terrible at explaining things and he's an appallingly bad quick-thinker. This is hysterical. The problem is that occasionally he causes all of the problems himself by being a genuine jackass, and that really blows the comedy value to hell. They're still great enough writers to make the situations good (usually), but it really takes it from a great show to barely passable one when they go this route.
Consider the first two episodes of season 6. In Meet the Blacks, he attempts a ploy that's stupid from the get-go, and after it fails miserably for very obvious reasons, he attempts it again the next night. It's just not funny when he brings the failure on himself. The following week, all of the problems are caused by other people. Jeff jerks off on his blanket (and holy shit was that a great idea). Danson gossips and cheats with the anonymous donation. The well-stacked dry cleaner loses his jersey. He was the hapless victim in each of these situations, and naturally, he compounded them with hilarious results. Weak episode, great episode. It's a real shame they weren't more consistent. Next on the list is the roadside memorial, which was one of the episodes that really turned me off the show in a big way.
-
The roadside memorial was involving Funkhouser's mom, right? That's probably one of my favorite episodes.
-
The roadside memorial was involving Funkhouser's mom, right? That's probably one of my favorite episodes.
Omg I love that episode. Funkhouser is the shit.
-
Anything with Larry David in is a hit for me, and I love Curb, like Seinfeld, I own all the DVDs and I'm very excited for the new season to air over here in the U.K. My only criticism is, I felt season 4 and 5 had a slight dip in quality, but then they brought on The Blacks, especially Leon, who really brought some new life into the show. Also agree with what was said about Season 7, a Seinfeld nerds wet dream!
Anyone else got love for Richard Lewis? When him and LD go improv, especially on the earlier seasons, it's pure gold. Also got a lot of love for Jeff.
-
The latest episode was hilarious.
-
Best episode of the season by far.
-
This whole season is flawless so far.
-
I fear Leon is gone.
-
I fear Leon is gone.
I don't think so. I'm some of the previews for this season and behind the scenes and stuff, I've seen him on set when they are in New York.
-
Larry asks Leon why he drove to NY from LA instead of flying and Leon said "I don't fly baby, they need Photo I.D for that" :lol
-
The episode where Larry and Rosie O'Donnell were fighting over the same chick was amazing!
"You juicin Ler?"
:rollin
-
I want a periscope for my car now. :lol
-
This season has been fantastic. It's sad that it's ending tonight :(
-
Just watched the 9th episode and will probably see the season finale tomorrow.
Susie organisming in the car :lol
-
The opening to the finale was one of the best openings ever. With the gay kid and the swastika .
-
I'm re-watching season 6. Gosh I fuckin hate Cheryl but as usual this show rarely puts emphasis on flaws of other characters than Larry.
-
The opening to the finale was one of the best openings ever. With the gay kid and the swastika .
I fuckin love that kid. He needs to be a regular; Larry's interactions with anyone remotely homosexual is always so amazing to witness. But a child? That's just metal.
-
No new season news but Larry appeared on Conan the day before to promote The Three Stooges. I didn't know he was in the movie and now I surely wanna see it. Here (https://teamcoco.com/video/larry-david-parking)'s Larry explaining his recent hilarious TmZ incident. The full interview (https://teamcoco.com/video/full-episode-weds-411-larry-david-lena-dunham-and-musical-guest-craig-morgan) is funny.
-
that was great, I felt like I was watching an episode
-
I can't believe I only just now found out about this thread. I started watching from the beginning a couple of months ago and am now almost halfway through season 6. It is a great show, just perfect for my sense of humor.
-
One of the greatest shows ever created.
I will always remember the first episode I ever saw with the last 5 magical words.....
"......A dog bit my penis."
-
that was great, I felt like I was watching an episode
Exactly what I thought :lol
-
The episode where Larry and Rosie O'Donnell were fighting over the same chick was amazing!
"You juicin Ler?"
:rollin
"Why are you fighting women?"
"She started it!"
:rollin :rollin :rollin
-
I want a season 9!!!
-
just started watching season 8 recently. The one with Richard Lewis' burlesque dancer girlfriend (the one with the ample bosom) was great.
Funkhouser had one of the funniest lines I've ever heard: "Have you set a day aside when you're gonna finally look at her face?" The reaction of the other guys was priceless.
-
Gotta love Funkhouser!
-
I've been watching random episodes as of late (I've seen all the seasons). I forgot how golden some of the older episodes were. Over the weekend I watched the episodes with Crazy Eyes Killa and Wandering Bear (numb vagina).
-
Love the show. Hated the season schedules. You were never quite sure if a new one had come out if you aren't paying close attention.
It is also the show where I became more aware of JB Smoove. That dude needs way more roles offered to him. I don't know if he is a leading man, but he is pure gold as a supporting actor. He should be in so many more movies / TV shows.
-
Yeah the show never seemed to have a consistent schedule; just whenever Larry felt like making a season.
I haven't heard any rumors at all about a season 9
-
JB Smoove is amazing. He has a radio show in GTA-V and it's hysterical.
Larry has talked about season 9 in interviews. He would love to make another season, but he's said that he's honestly just out of ideas at the moment. He doesn't want to force a season just for the sake of having a season. Didn't Louis CK just to this with his show too?
-
Yea I recall a recent L David interview where he said he isnt against a season 9, but would only do it when felt right and didnt want it forced, which is a good reason. I hope it works out though because every once and awhile I go back and watch a random episode and am reminded about how awesome of a show this is/was.

YES!!

:corn :corn :corn :corn
-
Yes!!!!!
Great news! I hope they don't stop at just season 9, just keep going.
But I'm glad they are returning for season 9 at least
I can't get enough of this amazing show!
-
The best news I've heard in some time.
-
They should at least do series 10 . Make it 100 eps.
Seems tidy.
-
They definitely should do a 10th season, but I'd imagine they do this one and take another break for Larry to get motivated, unless after this season he feels he is ready to go right into another one. As much as it sucks for the fans, it is great that he is able to take his time and only do it when he feels like he has a reason to do it, not because he needs the money or is succumbing to pressure so it's forced.
-
This will just make the fans appreciate season 9 (and hopefully more) even more. Probably like lots of fans, I didn't think we would see anymore episodes since its been such a long hiatus.
-
I just started this. On Episode 2 and I'm already loving it.
-
Beloved Aunt: oh my God.
I love everything about this show.

-
But do you respect wood?
My mom loves using that when someone puts a cup on a wooden table without a coaster.
-
The Doll episode is one the greatest things ever.
-
Fuck Hugh. Fuck Huuuuuuggghh.
-
I haven't watched the show for a while but this thread revival brought some episodes to mind that I wanna revisit, like the one with the anonoymes donor, freakin classic :lol

It's such a small scene but my favorite is...I don't even remember what Season or episode but Larry and Jeff are having coffee and out of the fucking blue Larry says something along the lines of "Hey...how would this be for a commercial" *gets srs* ... *drinks coffee* "Boy...that's really good coffee" and then Jeff just stares at him and the scene cuts at the perfect moment before Jeff says anything.
I was smoking a lot of weed during the years I watched this show but I went back and watched it about a year ago totally sober and still burst my sides laughing. Such a fucking fantastic series. There's too many great moments. I really think every episode has a favorite moment for me with maaaaybe one or two exceptions.
I'm honestly lukewarm on its return given that S8, while still incredible, wasn't at the top of my favorites. That said, it's like listing my favorite bands...there's no "bad" in there, just leagues of favorites. So either way it'll be great but I'm definitely going to do a binge of the whole series sometime in the near future. It's been too long.

Larry stealing the 5 wood out of the casket at the wake was hysterical.

I love comedy where it cuts at the funniest moment - instead of modern comedies where they all stand around shouting like " are you kidding me ? Are you serious right now ? I can't believe what i'm
hearing - I feel like i'm on crazy pills..." for ages.
Hot Rod was great for cutting away at the perfect moment.

Hot Rod, in my opinion, was one of the most underrated movies of the last decade. Great soundtrack, perfect level of corniness, great humor, solid cast... it had it all. I fucking love that movie.

My bro said it was amazing and we watched it at his place and I was in fits. So much better than any of those Judd Apatow movies.

Filming for Season 9 has started!! Looking forward to this big time
-
I was just talking to my brother the other day about what is happening with this show. Glad to hear it's not dead.
-
No not at all done. Sounds like everyone is on board for season 9. This show is just awesome.

10 seasons of 10 episodes would be a good solid collection.

Glad to see Leon Black is back :lol
I can't believe it's been five years.

I wonder what the relationship will be between Larry and Cheryl? Five years is a long time, who knows what Larry is going to come up with.

The ejocolate states otherwise.

Larry returns today!!!
-
Completely forgot. I'll definitely be tuning in.
-
My cousin met Larry at the Yankee game (he works for YES network), that would be so cool to meet him. I feel like I would expect him to be just like how he is in the show. Can't wait to watch the new episode.

Check out the Netflix short documentary 'Long Shot', as it relates to 'Curb', David, baseball (and murder)
-
I thought the first episode suffered from being too formulaic and forced, but I still enjoyed it. Hopefully the rest of the season is a bit more creative.
-
I LOVED the episode. Yea it was pretty formulaic, I'll agree. There were some moments that felt more forced, but the end result was still endless laughter most of the episode. Plus it seems like we got a funny storyline to revolve the season around, Fatwa!
I really loved the bride and groom scenes though :lol

I saw that doc. pretty pretty pretty good.
Also, that ep. of Curb was always one of my favs.
-
I've always enjoyed this show and think it's one of the funniest series out there....but if I'm being honest these two episodes have just been 'meh' IMO. they've been rather predictable even for Curb standards and I may be in the minority but I think the whole angle they are playing this year with the fatwa really isn't that funny. Anyway.....
-
Last week's episode had me in stitches. Bryan Cranston was great as Larry's shrink.

Easily the best episode of an otherwise weak season so far. I do find it curious when Larry decides to re-use old Seinfeld material (the "funeral hello"), but I can't complain too much when it's something relatively minor.
-
I'd say the last two (not last nights, I haven't watched yet) were my least favorite. While Cranston was good, the last two episodes as a whole felt not only forced, but just wasn't even funny forced.

I feel this for this whole season. Love me some Curb, but this season just isn’t doing it for me. Like you said, forced seems to be the way to describe it and it’s not translating

Yea I think the whole season has felt forced, but at least I thought it was funny for the first few episodes so it didn't bother me so much.

Yeah, that's what I thought too (the civil war reenactment was especially a big overkill), but the last episode set things right. It was hilarious all the way through, and it felt effortless. You could feel that the cast had a blast while the cameras were rolling. Classic Curb right there. The show is the funniest when the jokes are rooted in realism. Here's hoping the rest will be the same.

What a hilarious scene. I also love the part between George and Larry with the pen from the table read.

That was funny.
After what I thought was a lackluster first couple episodes the season really picked up steam and found it's groove. All in all it was very funny and very entertaining. Curious as to if there will be another season 'quickly' or if it'll be another few years.
-
There were a few dud episodes, but there were also some of the best episodes of the series. A solid season overall and a welcome return IMO. I do wonder with so much of the references to past episodes in the last few episodes, if this is it for the show.
-
After the first few, every single episode was stellar. Great season overall, which shocks me after that amazingly poor start.

Scratch my thought of maybe the end of the show.... curb is coming back for season 10 :metal

wow that was one of the best trailers for a comedy show in a long time, just so spot on for what to expect and actually getting me to laugh throughout it

I still haven't finished season 9!!
-
Looks awesome! Just based on the trailer I would say it’s going to be better than season 9.
I hope Larry stays motivated with the show and it keeps going! But any new season at this point is a bonus to me. Just an outstanding show
-
There are 180 episodes of Seinfeld which I figure I’ve seen at least 30-35 times, so that’s over 5000 viewings. With Curb there are 90 episodes plus one special which I’ve seen probably 5 times each. So suffice to say these are my two all time favorite shows. Third place is Trailer Park Boys!
-
"There's a Big Johnson community?"
(Unrelated, this is what followed the trailer for me: https://youtu.be/sUMzQ0karAk. It's worth it for the moment at about 4:10, when he says "I'm only sorry that my mother's not alive to be here tonight" and pauses for that little smirk and you know this isn't going in the direction one might think it to.)
-
How is everyone liking this season so far?
I am laughing a lot, but it really seems hit or miss (meaning the non-laughing parts are not very good). And there seems to be a lot of yelling this season, especially by Jeff, who suddenly seems like he's trying too hard. It's a little weird.
And feel free to string me up, but Leon is a useless character at this point. I guess he is only there so Larry has someone to talk to at home since he and Cheryl got divorced, but most of the worst scenes now seem to be the ones with Leon. He just isn't funny now. At all.

Ehhh....It's still 'funny' just because of how awkward and ignorant Larry is.....but it's certainly not at the level of funny of years past. I'll watch the remainder of the season....but at this point.....it seems as if the shows best days are behind it.

Agreed. Don't get me wrong, it's still funny overall, but its best days are definitely a thing of the past.
-
I really enjoyed the first episode with the Maga hat storyline. That was great. The second episode left me cold, but the following three episodes were decent.
It is uncanny how much Jeff resembled Harvey Weinstein :D
-
Eh. This season is meh.
I love this show but there’s just something off about these last couple seasons. Hard to put my finger on but it’s...too...self aware? Trying too hard. Larry is funny just by being himself but in every scene he’s clearly trying hard to be LARRY. If that makes sense.
Also, agree Leon needs to go. A long time ago. I know Larry David thinks he’s the funniest guy on the planet but he just stinks up most of the scenes he’s in. What is he even doing there? Larry would never have another man hang out at his house.

Nailed it
-
I also think that Cheryl’s absence is definitely felt. She always kept LD grounded and they played off each other brilliantly. Now we just have Leon and the dynamic just isn’t right.
-
I think you’re spot on with the ‘trying too hard’ observation. Previous seasons were fluid and almost looked like they weren’t trying. This season feels real forced.
-
Never in my whole life ever seen a single episode....not even a clip.
Watching the very first episode right now and laughing my butt off.

Seasons 1-8 are freaking hilarious. And, the show is still funny...... it’s just for me it’s not where it once was

Very excited for this :yarr
-
It's amusing to me that Curb has run for 11 seasons now considering he had a panic attack every time he had to write a new season of Seinfeld :lol
-
As much as I don't necessarily care for all the things that go on around him, there is still at least two moments in each show where I think "this is still worth watching" or I say (if she's not there) "My wife has to see this!".
I'm indifferent on JB Smoove; sometimes he's funny, sometimes not. I'm indifferent on Jeff Garvin. I do love Susie Essman; the inevitable tirade never gets old to me. I LOVE Ted Dansen. I leave the room when Richard Lewis comes on; he wasn't funny back in the day, now that he's a raw nerve stereotype it's even less appealing. I miss Bob Einstein.
-
Leon was funny at first, but now it seems his only purpose is to show up in random scenes and curse up a storm. I find the scenes with him to be the ones I am likely to get up and take a leak during and not feel the need to hit the pause button on the DVR.
But I cannot agree about Richard Lewis. The scenes where he and Larry argue, which is most of them :lol, are comedy gold. Same with Larry and Ted Danson.
-
It's amusing to me that Curb has run for 11 seasons now considering he had a panic attack every time he had to write a new season of Seinfeld :lol
That's because he was on a schedule with Seinfeld. The network would have strict deadlines and expectations for content. With HBO, he makes content whenever he's ready to. He's gone years between seasons just because he didn't have any ideas at the moment. I like it that way.
Also have to disagree on Richard Lewis' appearances. I don't think the guy is that funny on his own, but I love Larry's interactions with him. Bob's death really sucked. He was great as Funkhouser. Some of my favorite episodes (Carpool and Dodgers game, Larry stealing flowers off his mom's memorial, etc..).
I'm a sucker for JB Smoove though. I love having Leon on the show.
Does anyone know why some of the cast uses their IRL names (Ted) and others don't (Bob)?
-
I agree with you who say Leon is hit or miss. But when he hits, it's usually really funny.
I also really like Richard Lewis other than his attire :lol but my understanding is he's only in one episode this season as his health wasn't very good.
-
I'll watch the 3rd episode tomorrow night, but so far I really enjoyed the first 2 episodes. And I just knew the netflix thing wasn't going to last more than a few episodes :lol
-
Yeah…..been pretty enjoyable so far.
-
Season 12 starts in February and is the final season. Curious how the season plays out.
-
Actually think this season has started coming around. The last few episodes have been way better than the start of the season.
I'm also starting to think this show may end with Larry going to jail :lol
-
So... Uconn Men's Basketball played in Boston this past weekend and Larry David was at one of the games (apparently, he has a "live appearance" there. I don't know if he handed out any bottled water.)
Uconn was tied with Illinois 23-23 with a couple minutes left in the first half, then went on a 30-0 run extending well into the second half. Uconn is very, very focused on a repeat national championship, and they weren't shooting well in the first half at all, so Dan Hurley, the coach, was not letting up on the intensity. It's bad for Illinois, but this is about more than one game. Anyway, apparently David started to heckle Hurley, saying "Stop coaching! You don't have to coach any more!" when the game got a little out of hand. Then he started yelling at Hurley to take his starters out (he didn't and usually doesn't until about 2 or 3 minutes left in the game, regardless of how big the lead is). Finally David left with about 4:00 minutes to go and had some kind of snarky words for Uconn.
For a Curb fan, I'm like "pretty, pretty, pretty funny!"
For a Uconn fan, I'm like "LARRY YOU FOUR-EYED FUCK! GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY HOUSE!"
To his credit, Hurley was classy and said he loved the show and moved on.

It's bad for Illinois
Imagine how I felt..... :eek
I agreed with Larry David though - they could have taken 30 seconds, let some time run off the clock and score 2. It was pretty clear that my Every Day Guys at Illinois weren't going to catch up any time soon.
-

I hear you, and I feel bad, I do. But that's not what Dan has been preaching all season long, and - no offense here - it's not like they were perfect; for the first half, Uconn didn't shoot any better than Illinois did. They just didn't have an answer for Clingan.
Again, no offense, but there are maybe two teams that could give Uconn a run on any given night and one of them is still left in the building: Purdue. I feel bad for Illinois - they're a good team - but that was more about that than anything in the moment. These are kids, after all, and you only get one chance: as a Uconn fan (they hired Geno Auriemma my freshman year and Jim Calhoun my sophomore year) I wouldn't have had it any other way. By the way, I mention Geno, and he was a fan of that as well; he NEVER took his foot off the gas, and while for a couple years he took a lot of heat for it, the women's game is better off over-all for what he did.
PS: I added a link to the post.
-
I completely agree (and I agreed with Bellicheck when it came up in the NFL - an offense's job is to score and a defense has to be able to stop them).
I hated seeing those kids lose by the wheels coming completely off. Their offense was bad, their defense was bad - it wouldn't hurt so much if they lost and were competitive to the end, but it is what it is. Brad Underwood was hilarious though - they asked him how they could make the game better and he said "make him (Clingan) a foot shorter."
I'm hoping to see Purdue in the championship against Uconn - I want to see the two 7-footers go at it. :lol And I always root for a Big-10 team.

I saw that too!!! It was very funny (and I don't think the interviewer got the sarcasm.)
I mean, there's no one "easy" at this point. I do know I am grateful that Houston is out; I can't stand Kelvin Sampson. I think he's a cheat and a liar and I don't like his coaching style. Kind of on the DJ Burns bandwagon, though. :)
I didn't care for Zach Edey's press conference; this "we're the underdog and no one appreciates us" mentality has got to go. He was systematically listing all the programs that passed over him, as some sort of "vindication". C'mon; one, you haven't won anything yet, so you're not quite there yet for "vindication" and two, at least this past year, you were the number one team in the country for the better part of the season and NO ONE is counting you as an "underdog". Two straight games where Clingan DOMINATED, I mean literally CARRIED the Uconn team on his back, and the TBS crew - Barkley, Smith, Kellogg, and Johnson - still called him the "second-best big man in the country". Fair enough, but Zach doesn't get to have it both ways.
-
That was a good run and a nice nostalgia filled final episode
Also, the final scene on the plane :lol something that always pisses me off, glad he ended on a note doing the same thing the show did all along
-
You know, I really enjoyed that episode a lot more than I thought I would. There were SO many little nuggets in that episode. The sort of meta- discussion with Leon complaining about Kramer "walk into your fucking house unannounced and shit". I'm sure there will be debate about this, but I loved how he so clearly tied Leon to Kramer, and tied himself to Jerry (the scene where they are walking away from the camera, and Jerry sort of adopts that laconic stroll that Larry has was impressive.)
I also laughed out loud when Jerry said to Leon, "they're on Laserdisc; do you have a Laserdisk player?" and Leon is completely baffled. Hilarious.
-
Yeah, there were just sooo many nuggets.
One small one, when Larry is first seeing Richard's new gf and she throws her keys to the guy at the vallet parking :lol I lost my shit when you could clearly see that in the background. And that's a recent call back.
I loved seeing the girl from the doll episode which was one of the all time best IMO.
-
Loved the finale. Even though it was clear for a while that this was gonna end in a trial similar to Seinfeld, it was still hilarious and had some great guest appearances. Fitting ending for this show.
I was kinda hoping they would go in a slightly different direction for the trial. Instead of a bunch of past characters coming back and saying “Larry did this and that and he’s an asshole”, maybe they come back and say “Larry did this and that, but y’know, in hindsight he was right”. :lol

They basically did that in the Fatwa season, where people in the past came back and said Larry was a good guy for the things he did.
-
They did didn’t they? That feels like a lifetime ago.
