Title: Working Weekends
Post by: Tick on March 12, 2011, 05:50:06 AM
So I'm getting a little rest right now before I go in for an 11 to 8 day at work. I work 2 to 9 tomorrow. I always get a bit bummed when people are pumped up for the weekend because I work retail and its the busiest days of the week. I do get some Saturdays and Sundays off but very sparingly. Sometimes they even give me both.(not to often)
I'm just curious how many people also work weekends?
Its a bummer but I am thankful I have a job to go to.
Well, enjoy your weekend DTF!

I know how much it sucks.
I go to school from monday to friday, work on saturday and prepare my schoolwork for the next week on sunday. I wash the the dirty dishes in a restaurant so I know how busy it gets in the weekend.

Enjoy your weekend.

I used to work retail when I was in school and would always be stuck working weekends. It sucked, big time.

I do tech support so I frequently work weekends. It takes a lot of willpower to not tell customers to fuck off when they tell me to have a nice weekend.

I do sometimes. Try not to think too much into it. The more you do, the more pissed off/depressed you will become, trust me.

Just look at it as having more time to mack on the ladies that come in to buy something.

Or more time to deal with DOUBLE the dumbass customers
fixed.

I have worked Saturdays for years so I'm used to it. Sundays are the day I hate to work!

Every 5 or 6 weeks I spend my Saturdays helping to administer tests like ACT and SAT. It's a pretty easy way to make $100, just sit there from 7 AM - 1 PM and pass out tests, give oral instructions, etc. I always jump on it and volunteer to work them whenever possible, as I'm doing right now as I type this. Making $104 to post on DTF, lol

I used to work retail, many moons ago.  I remember.

My brother works retail now (manager of a shoe store), so I usually only see him at holidays.

As I nurse I've always worked weekends, bank holidays, Christmas etc. It is totally shite but people are still ill at these times so it comes with the job. Doesn't mean I like it.

I work part-time at a supermarket and I probably work two or three weekends out of the month. It's usually only four or five hours so it's not TOO bad.

The only reason I actually look forward to working on the weekends are that Sunday is paid time and a half (I work at a grocery store and I know too well how busy we can be on the weekends). Usually I don't get very many days off between work and school. But it's worth it when that paycheck comes in.

BTW, I'm working a total of 12 hours today. Went in this morning from 7 to 1, now I came home to eat lunch and relax, and I have to go back in from 3-9 tonight. That's a lot of cart pushing.

I also work retail, and I go to school, so I work a lot of weekends. Saturdays can be pretty brutal, especially around the holidays.

Weekends don't mean anything to me anymore. As long as I get 2 days off in a row I'm fine. I get to pick my schedule so this happens anyway.

Haven't had a weekend off in twenty years, and other than family events, I don't mind.  I actually enjoy having my "weekend" on Tuesday and Wednesday, no crowds anywhere and the nightlife is more to my subdued taste.

Yea working weekends sucks. I'm in classes from 9AM to 9PM M-W and then I work from 10-5 on Th-S and then 1-6 on Sunday so I don't have days off.

I always work weekends. Now I work in the morning as the cook or manager (or both), and at night I work online as a math tutor for a few hours.

It's whatever.

My dad owns a boutique (women's clothing) and has to work every day.

I'm also working on my animated film at school and my hours are 10AM 'till 1AM every single day. It's rough. (Lunch and breaks are 15 minutes only)
