Appreciate the epic brutal amazingness that is Bland Street Bloom here. And all of SikTh for that matter.

i still haven't figured out where my 3rd copy of Death of a Dead Day came from
-
And I still havent heard back from Bieler Bros about merch :lol I've given up hope on that.
AS THE DOVE RAINS BLOOOOD!!! I love it!
*appreciates as*
-

-
Lets see, I sent my email on the 18th of March. Freakin lol.
-
yeahhhh. it took awhile for me to get a response (i don't remember how long); maybe they will surprise you one day.
-
Ehhhh I'm not too worried about it anymore, but surprises are kewl.
Also I have a feeling we will see a SikTh reunion at some point in the future. Just seems right.

I hope so. I would love to see them live.

Woah, didnae think I'd find a SikTh thread on these forums.
Were a pretty awesome band has to be said :yarr
-
I discovered SikTh through these forums... And I am a better person for it :P
-
i actually don't remember how i heard SikTh. all i know is since then, i've gotten like 20 more people to like the band.
-
Ah yes I remember, it was a combanation of these forums and the guitarists from Protest. Good times.
The guitar solo on In This Light is very, very nice.

-
Bland Street Bloom has got to be the best tech metal song of all time.
-
I like some of their stuff, but their harsh vocals are kind of annoying.
-
I've been binging on SikTh lately, but I just read the lyrics to How May I Help You. :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin
-
Can't believe I missed this thread.
SHE'S VERY GOOD AT EXPRESSING HER AFFECTION FOR HER FRIENDS
SHE'S MY GIRL, YOUR GIRL, EVERYBODY'S GIRL
SO YOU'RE SAYING THAT YOU AND ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE IN THIS HERE BAR HAVE BEEN WITH HER?
NO ONE'S COME IN FOR DAYS! EXCEPT FOR A COUPLE OF PISS HEADS (I think that's what he says)!

yeah that's right. Here's the video (with lyrics.) This is an older version of the song though, from an EP, some of it is a bit different to the album version
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-BzWuc16GE
According to the album liner notes this was supposed to be a chapter from a book Mikee was writing, I don't know what became of that though.
Man I love SikTh so much. There's always something new to hear, even in songs you've heard many times already. And their lyrics are so great, Pussyfoot with the best in my opinion.
Also, in case you haven't heard it, here's Suffice, one of the first songs they ever wrote. It's not as technical as most of their other material, but ye gods is it heavy. Some great vocals too, especially towards the end

THEN HE PUT SOME LAXATIVES INTO HER TEA
*sip*
AND HE WAS ON HIS OWN AGAIN

Holy shit, this band is great! :2metal:
EDIT:
With some great guitar work I might add!

For the record, I believe the best guitar work from all their material is the final piece in that clip, the end of 'Skies of Millenium Night' starting at '8:00.' An amazing piece of music, great guitar harmonies, a great drumbeat, just fantastic.
Also, Pin's guitars are so sexy. For those who don't know, he plays Blackmachine https://www.blackmachine.net/ which are custom made and damn beautiful. I was lucky enough to play his 8 string when I went to his house ( :hat) and it was a thing of beauty :metal

Once again, I'm jealous that you got to take lessons with Pin.
Post your SikTh tattoo! (I remember it being really cool. If you feel like digging up the tattoo thread, post it there).

This photo is better than the one I posted in the tattoo thread as it's healed in this and not all scabby. Ignore the unkempt beard ha

That is pretty damn sick.

Same here.

The live version of Skies on their myspace player makes me crave a live release like you wouldn't believe.

I ADORE that solo
-
Should I get into these guys?
-
YES
-
They just sound so...heavy. I'm not much of a djent guy, nor do the vocals do much for me.
-
Wait, they're too heavy for you? ???
-
Well stuff like BTBAM took me a loooong time to get into, and I like Meshuggah only in small doses...
Yes Opeth are my favourite band, but they don't sound anywhere near as heavy as these guys to me.

Yeah they're heavy, at their heaviest they're REALLY heavy, but they also have sections of amazing beauty. Take a listen to this. It showcases their heavy and technical sides, but also the middle section demonstrates perfectly how they bring it down. For the record I don't think this is their best song, but it's the first song I heard by them, and it's a good starting point.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rz5oa98LDq4
-
Yeah okay that song was good :tup
-
My buddy Peter Skipper is playing bass in "Minutes" with Dan and Justin from Sikth. :)

(Listening to The Tree Are Dead... I hope it was the right starting point. On track 6 and i'm utterly utterly sold)
So can someone explain why they broke up?
-
On May 27, 2008, SikTh announced that the band had decided to split due to numerous factors. The main reasons cited for their break up was the inability to find replacements for ex-vocalists Mikee and Justin, as well as commitment to other projects

:sadpanda:

Bump.
That is all.

SikTh pwn. Here are some videos you could see for yourself on YouTube.
Early version of Such The Fool

Early Pussyfoot live

By the way, Pin is in a new band called Aliases. They have one track on their myspace. It's....OK. Not SikTh though
-
I stumbled across this Aliases track. I think its pretty freaking good man, check it out!

Why didnt anyone inform me of this earlier? :metal

Wow I just added Pin on facebook and he accepted me AND wrote on my wall. What a legend!
-
Also, who knew about this?
https://www.ironmaiden.com/index.php?categoryid=8&p2_articleid=1282
Adrian Smith and Mikee Goodman working on music together??!! For me this is the stuff of dreams.
-
That is awesome. Mikee needs more music out there, he has such a great voice. Was on the way home from work today and 'Suffice' came on, needless to say I maxed the volume and irritated all the nearby commuters. Oh god I wish SikTh were still around. Aliases (Pins new band) are OK but nothing amazing, IMO.

Man, the ratio heavy/soft of The Trees... is just incredible! I'm really getting into these guys!

God damn I love this band.

I love the Aliases track, eh. I think they could be on to something awesome there... can't wait to hear the EP.
-
Yeah it's grown on me since I posted that. Still no SikTh, but it's good. They're playing a little gig not to far from me soon with a couple of other good bands, might go check it out
-
I recently acquired Trees on disc. I own both the full-lengths now. I'd love to acquire the EPs as well, although the 1st 2 appear to be available for a pretty spendy number.

From the early days I only have the 'How May I Help You?' EP, it's worth it for 'Suffice' alone, but it only cost me about £5 and considering there's only 4 tracks on there it might be tough to justify if it's very expensive. I also have the 'Flogging the Horses' EP which is OK, I always preferred the early version of 'Part of the Friction' but that was released before the EP anyway. The 'Let The Transmitting Begin' EP is the one I really want though, loads of early and live stuff, especially on the Japanese version.
I miss SikTh.

I miss SikTh.
Pretty much.

From 5/8:
This was just posted by Olly from Monuments/Cyclamen on facebook:
""Dan Weller
ive never been asked by so many people to reform sikth. it was the only question I heard all week at download. we are gonna do it at some point. without a doubt... who knows when though."
HOLY FUCK
-
NO WAY :omg:
-
I WANT TO BELIEVE. But i'm not holding my breath. Most of the members are pretty involved with other projects at the minute. Obviously Pin has Aliases and it looks like they're going to be taking off, Mikee is in a new band called The Painted Smiles and he seems pretty over SikTh in an interview in the new Metal Hammer. Dan and Justin are in Minutes and Dan Foord had a few things going on too. So although I would love to see it happen, I don't think it'll be any time soon.
You know I had a chance to go to SikTh's last ever show, and I had to turn it down because of work. :tdwn :tdwn
-
Unless one of them dies, no doubt they'll do it. How long since they disbanded? 3 years? And people still regard them as UK metal royalty! No doubt they'll reunite at some point.
And if they don't, then fuck you for not believing. :neverusethis:
-
Finally a track from Primal Rock Rebellion, the project by Mikee and Iron Maiden guitarist Adrian Smith. Not bad, but not amazing. Don't expect SikTh
https://soundcloud.com/primalrockrebellion/i-see-lights
-
I like it.
-
Not bad.
-
Guys I'm looking to buy their debut album online... Anyone know where they sell it?

It's on Amazon but not silly Canadian Amazon.

Yikes.
Still, gives me a reason to gloat and post this again.

The only thing of there's that I haven't been able to find that I really want is the Let The Transmitting Begin EP. It was their first, and has a load of cool live tracks on it. But it's rarer than hen's teeth and I've never seen a real copy.
-
So the band has finally set up an official Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/sikthofficial in order to sell official merch. There's some interesting snippets on there.
So here it is!!! The first Official SikTh Merchandise store.
This page is run by the band - and only the band.
We've been blown away by the continued support we've had from our fans even though we split up a while back now. There's been a constant demand for merchandise so we thought we'd make it happen. We are starting with one of the old designs. We intend to add more designs If all goes well.
And before you all ask, NO we are not reforming - not yet. Some point in the future maybe, but as for 2012, all we have for you is T-Shirts and a thank you for making us all feel proud of what we achieved in SikTh.
They certainly are wetting everyone's appetite with all this new activity. There's some cool videos on the page too from when four of the guys played at ACM, my friend's music college. They used to come in quite often and do instrumental performances and talks, was pretty cool of them.
-
I've been addicted to Trees recently. How May I Help You? is probably one of the funniest songs I've ever heard. :metalol:
-
I god I love SikTh news
More Merch has been ordered guys.. hoodies and girls skinny tee's. we will then look at getting some of the other designs up. btw, Calls for a reunion are amazing.. thanks... OF COURSE we want to... we've never said other wise. It will happen when the times right. There WILL be another SikTh record... and it will be our best... thats a PROMISE. It took us the best part of 2 years to complete the writing of DOADD so I guess you'll have to be patient. Besides, theres a bucket load of riffs that we wrote for album three still sat there - so we'll have a head start next time ;-)
Yes.

Dan Foord used to teach here every week too until recently.
-
YES :metal
-
Holy shit yes
-
I don't see why they don't reform right away. There's clearly a demand for it, and they're clearly teasing us for some reason. New album, world tour, lather rinse repeat until the end of time.
Please?

Well some of the members are involved in side-projects right now... we have to remember that the band split up for a reason. But with that said, I really hope the new album will come out soon. :tup
-
I never heard why the vocalists left though. All I heard was they left and the rest of the band got tired of looking for replacements.
-
Looks like the rest of the band really wants SikTh to continue and for once the vocalists are not all negative about that happening. It's a matter of time like they say!! :caffeine:
-
Who actually runs that site though? Is it Mikee giving the updates?
-

So far I think only Pin and Dan Weller have posted. Mikee's not really a big internet user so I doubt he'll write on the page at all.
-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oO7je_9wQ0E
There's a new Primal Rock Rebellion video. I like it. It's definitely got more in common with SikTh than Iron Maiden, but it's more or less a completely new direction for both of them.
-
Ugh, I didn't like much about that at all.
Definitely preferred the first song they released.
-
Listening to the Primal Rock Rebellion album. I'm enjoying it so far. It might just be getting by on the merit of hearing Mikee doing something that isn't SikTh though.
Edit: Upon further listening, I'd say this has potential to be in my top 10 of the year, and it's definitely the best thing that's been released so far this year.

https://www.metalhammer.co.uk/news/exclusive-we-chat-to-sikth-about-reuniting-and-playing-download-2014/
What’s the plan for SikTh beyond that?
“Nothing yet. Nothing at all. We wanted to come back and do a really great gig and see how it goes. We’ve got new bands, we have obligations to our careers, but equally, we do want to make new SikTh music in the future at some point. This is a one-off gig for now, and then we’ll see how it goes…”
-
Listening to 'The Trees Are Dead & Dried Out; Wait For Something Wild'
....
Wow. :metal Especially Tupelo. Why the heck did I never listen to this before?
-
:metal
I remember first discovering SikTh, it was like getting hit in the head with a breeze block of riffage. How May I Help You is my favourite on that album. And Skies of Millenium Night. And Pussyfoot. And everything else is my favourite. I loves all of it really.
-

Didn't I tell you to listen that like six months ago? Anyway, great that you are finally appreciating the genius that is SikTh. And yes, Tupelo freaking slays.
-
Yeah, I vaguely remember discussing it at some point. :lol
Although, I did listen to some of Death Of A Dead Day at one point and enjoyed it, but I guess it didn't make too much of an impression on me.
-
I prefer DoaDD over Trees, I think. Bland Street Bloom is probably one of the best metal songs ever.

Cover of the year.
meh. It's alright.
Is it me or does that sound pretty much just like Bland Street Bloom / Pussyfoot ?
It's you.
Well, maybe you're kinda into something. Will consider reporting back after spinning all three.
-
Is it me or does that sound pretty much just like Bland Street Bloom / Pussyfoot ?
Not really, both of those songs are rather fast-paced. This one seems more of a ballad. I'm kind of hoping this is the slowest, least intense song of the EP and the rest is full of the batshit insanity I've come to expect from the band.
Actually just give me 79 minutes of Skies of the Millennium Night. That would be fine.

EPs are rarely 79 minutes :hat

Fucking sounds like SikTh alright. :metal
-
I've listened to it a few times and it might just be the best thing they've ever done.
I was worried that after such a long wait, how could it ever reach expectations, but they've just nailed it. All the things you love about Sikth plus more. The vocals and melodies are incredible. That last song takes the band into new territory I'd like to here more of. Yeah love it love it, they have to be THE most important metal band of 2000's+

I caught their SF show last week, they fucking killed it all around, such a great live band. Was especially impressed with the bassist, jesus tap-dancing christ what a beast.

you should. It's grown on me a fair amount.
Also this new single is supposed to be just a taste for their next record, which may be coming as early as May.

Loving the album so far. The chorus on Weavers of Woe is about the sickest (SikThest?) breakdown I've heard in a while. Makes sense as the logical follow up to Death of a Dead Day.

This is shaping up to be my second favourite Sikth release after the debut. Century of the narcissist is the only track I don't care for.
